GENERAL OVERVIEW The artwork is composed of about 100/120 strips of netting screens suspended on thin ropes attached to a frame. Four videoprojectors, located outside the artwork, are displaying moving images on those semi-transparent screens. A synchronized and multichannel soundwork plays simultaneously. SPACE For a standard version of 3Destruct, a space of a minimum of 20 to 25m x 20/25m x 4/5m high would be required. Ideally a space would have pilars to fix the structure supporting the artwork.! Before our arrival the space has to be darkened completely! STRUCTURE According to the attached drawings, strips of netting screens (provided by us) needs to be attached to a supporting frame. Before our arrival, we require a frame to be set on the exact location at 1m30 high and that can be lifted up easily at 3m63. It needs to be strong enough to support the tension of a matrix of cables (screens supports) and maintain itself well enough to avoid weakening in the center. See the drawings for further more details regarding size, assembling and rigging. The type of material and the technique used to build this structure is to be discussed with you, depending on the space.! The solution has to be discreet as possible (black), and also safe, robust and stable! Also to provide: - 2 x step ladders (3m approximately) - 150m of black prestreched halyard (3mm diameter) - 2x bags strong back cable ties! For a long exhibition (over a week), black prestreched halyard will be replaced by metal cables! PROJECTION SURFACE While we bring the screens with us, the suspended cables can only be done when we will be on site. See the drawings for further more details on how it looks. A.10
TECHNICAL BOOTH Accessible, safe and discreet. Ideally quite close to the artwork, to limit cabling lengths, but still hidden from the public sight. VIDEOPROJECTION According to the drawings and diagrams, the videoprojectors are set to display an image on each left half of each side of the artwork. They are set in portrait mode (i.e. vertical position) at 2m60 high. The rigging method has to be stable and safe. - 4 x recent and identical videoprojectors: - Brightness: 7000/8000 lumens - Technologie: DLP - Native resolution : 1400 x 1050 - Portrait mode - Vertical craddle and rigging equipment! We require brand new lamps, or very recent (less than 70 hours), and each with a similar number of hours (less than 50 hrs difference)! - 4 x DVI cables from the technical booth to the videoprojectors/ Due to the lenght, optical fiber or ethernet pair of extender are needed. The videoprojectors have to be installed on the exact location, wired and tested before our arrival. PLAYBACK SYSTEM Millumin is the playback software that plays video and sound. We provide the laptop that delivers 4 DVI outputs (1400 x 1050) via 2 x Matrox DualHead (provided by us). - 1 x table - 2 x chairs AUDIO The sound is a discrete multichannel composition. It is fine tune by the composer on location. Four speakers are set above the installation, directed towards the outside of the installation. Two other speakers point to the artwork. Two subs are sets underneath the outside speakers.! We require no sound pollution! - 6 x Identical full range speakers (ex: MeyerSound UPJ - if different please check with us for confirmation) - 2 x separate subs (ex: MeyerSound USW) - 1 x USB or Firewire audio soundcard with 8 outputs Sound check only: - 8 x sound extension cables to set the composer close to the artwork while he s fine tuning the composition The speakers have to be installed on the exact location, wired and tested before our arrival.
