Written using the standard AABA orm, the chart also highlights the trumet section in the introduction, ridge, and coda sections. In the A REVIEW sections o the iece, the soloist can ornament the iece in several ONLY ays. One ay is to scoo reeated notes, such as in measure 9, here they artistically see it. This exression has delierately een let out to leave it oen or the soloist to decide here it is est to add any scoos. Also, since the chord changes in the A section is airly simle, it makes it easy or the soloist to imrovise y ornamenting the melody a little, including the inal measures o the tune. The iano also lays an imortant role in this chart, as it either suorts the melody, as in the oening and closing o the chart, as ell as creating some dialogue ith the soloist. Although it is ritten to e layed iano rom measures 9-16, the iano can ring out its art a little more, as its o is a little more imortant than the other rhythm section instruments in this section..enmusic.com Instrumentation: *Alto Sax 1 *Alto Sax 2 *Tenor Sax 1 *Tenor Sax 2 tone Sax *Trumet 1 *Trumet 2 *Trumet Trumet *Tromone 1 *Tromone 2 Tromone Tromone Guitar *iano * Guitar *Drum Set * required instrument

Getting Started Starting a azz and can seem like a huge task. You may or may not have any azz laying exerience and are not quite sure here to start. Here are some general things to think aout: Try to have the minimum instrumentation covered, even i it means that you do not have the instrumentation o a traditional azz and (use alternate arts i necessary). In order to arrange a chart so that it is layale ith minimum instrumentation, sometimes the range o the rd trumet/tromone is higher than the 2nd. I you have a ull and, have a stronger layer on the rd art, rather than the 2nd. Look over the score and select a section in hich all layers lay (esecially a unison section). First, have the rhythm section lay don the groove. Next, have the horn sections sing their rhythms ith articulations. Finally, have the horns lay their arts along ith the rhythm section. Try to get your and to lay ith the correct eel eore trying to conquer the notes o the entire iece. azz Terms reak - A rie solo assage during a cessation o the accomaniment, usually only one or to ars in length. call and resonse - The erormance o musical items in alternation eteen to distinct grous o musicians or eteen a soloist and a grou. coming - to rovide a chordal accomaniment or a soloist. all o - A gliss hich alls rom the end o a chord or note. lay ack - To lay slightly ehind the eat. ri - A short melodic idea hich is reeated as an accomaniment ehind a soloist.
