MACBETH Directed by Katie O Halloran Assistant Directed by Bridget McNiff Auditions: February 12 & 13, 2018 Rehearsals: Wed 6-9; Sun 12-5 Performances: April 20-22, 2018

ABOUT BWTC S PRODUCTION OF MACBETH BWTC is excited to be offering a very special opportunity for female actors in grades eight through twelve. Two of our alumni, both recent graduates of two of the top theatre schools in the country, are joining together to produce an all-female version of William Shakespeare s famous tragedy MACBETH. Director: Katie O Halloran is thrilled to be making her directorial debut at BWTC. Other directing credits include Lungs, Stage Kiss, Night, Mother, and Coriolanus. She found a passion for Shakespeare while studying towards her BFA in Musical Theatre at The Boston Conservatory. Katie also studied at Shakespeare s Globe in London, and enjoyed playing Brutus in Julius Ceasar on the Globe stage. Assistant Director: Bridget McNiff is a recent graduate of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she received her BFA in Drama. While studying both classical and contemporary theatre in New York, she had the opportunity to perform many roles through the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, including personal favorites such as Mary Haines in The Woman, Phoebe in As You Like It, and Anne in What Every Girl Should Know. She was most recently seen as Catherine in Princeton University s Summer Theater production of Pippin. AUDITIONS & CASTING Female actors currently in grades 8 through 12 (2017-2018 school year) are eligible to audition for BWTC s production of MACBETH. Auditions will take place on Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13 from 6:30-8:30. Actors who wish to audition must sign up for a five-minute audition slot on either February 12 or February 13. The link to sign up can be found on the Auditions page of the BWTC website (www.bluewatertheatre.com). Actors should prepare a Shakespearean monologue of no more than two minutes in length. However, if an actor feels uncomfortable working through a monologue of their own choosing, a few sample selections that may be used can also be found on the Auditions page of the BWTC website (www.bluewatertheatre.com). Actors should come to their audition with a completed and signed Actor Information Sheet and Rehearsal Conflict Sheet to turn in to the directors. Those forms can be found at the end of this packet. Note that parents and other guests are not allowed directly in the theater while the auditions are taking place. CALLBACKS (for select actors) will take place on Wednesday, February 14 from 6:30-8:30. A list of actors needed at callbacks will be posted on the Audition page of the BWTC website by

9:00am on Wednesday, February 14 (the morning of the callbacks), following the conclusion of the first round of auditions the night before. The final cast list will be posted on the AUDITIONS page of the BWTC website no later than 4:00pm on Friday, February 16. REHEARSALS & ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS Rehearsals for MACBETH will begin on Sunday, February 18, and will generally take place on Sundays from 12:00-5:00 and on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-9:00. Additional rehearsals outside of those times may be called, but will be worked out directly with the actor(s) affected. Actors are expected to attend all rehearsals for which they have been called, unless the director has been notified in advance of conflicts. PERFORMANCES MACBETH will have three dress/tech rehearsals and three performances, at which attendance is (obviously) mandatory: Dress/Tech Rehearsals: Tuesday, April 17 from 5:00-9:30 Wednesday, April 18 from 5:00-9:30 Thursday, April 19 from 5:00-9:30 Performances: Friday, April 20 @ 7:00pm Saturday, April 21 @ 7:00pm Sunday, April 22 @ 2:00pm *Note: There will be a set strike following the final performances* LOCATION, PARKING, PICK-UP/DROP-OFF Auditions, Rehearsals, and Performances will take place at Blue Water Theatre Company s home at 605 Rice Street East in downtown Wayzata. When you arrive at the building for auditions and rehearsals, please enter through back entrance up the driveway and off of the deck. That is considered the main entrance to the building. There is plenty of street parking within a block of our building. In addition, the city hall/ library municipal lot is right across the street, and is usually available. There is also a parking ramp two blocks down the hill behind Caribou, and another one (brand-new!) two blocks away (on Broadway) across from McCormick s. There is no parking on-site.

PRODUCTION FEE The production fee for a student actor to take part in MACBETH is $195. This fee helps to cover our show licensing, set/prop/costume needs, insurance, staffing, and other organizational costs. The registration fee is due by the first rehearsal (Sunday, February 18), unless special arrangements have been made with us in advance. Refunds are not available. If a student drops out of the production, the registration fee will be considered a donation to Blue Water Theatre Company. For your convenience, an online payment option for each show will be set up once the show has been cast. Alternatively, checks can be mailed to us at : Blue Water Theatre Company Attn: Sarah Irwin P.O. Box 662 Wayzata, MN 55391 A very limited amount of financial assistance may be available if a family can demonstrate reasonable need. Families who would like to know more about this option must get in touch with Sarah Irwin before your actor auditions for the show. Requests for financial assistance that are made once auditions have begun may not be possible to honor. Sarah can be reached at: sarah.irwin@bluewatertheatre.com. BWTC COMMUNICATION & BUILDING USE POLICY BWTC parents are encouraged to read the BWTC Communication Policy, which can be found on a tab on the AUDITIONS page of our website. As an organization that deals almost exclusively with teenagers and with recognition and respect to one of our organizational values of youth empowerment it is important for families to understand the ways in which members of the BWTC community communicate with each other. In addition, our new facility presents many wonderful opportunities for our kids to spread out and make themselves at home in a way that our previous studio did not. It s a wonderful opportunity to have a place where they can be together creating art, building friendships, and enjoying the amazing community of young people that is BWTC. It s important, however, to have some baseline expectations of behavior on the part of BWTC youth. (1) All BWTC youth are expected to treat the building with love and respect. (2) All BWTC youth are expected to behave in responsible and respectful manners towards one another at all times. Parents should understand that it is impossible for BWTC staff to monitor every room in the building and every part of the BWTC property at all times. We expect our kids to behave in a respectful and responsible manner, and our experience shows that they do a good job of holding one another accountable and behaving in positive ways.

Please should discuss these expectations with their kids, and should be in contact with Charlie Leonard if you have any questions or concerns about either of these issues. QUESTIONS If you have any questions about Blue Water Theatre Company's production of MACBETH, please contact: Katie O Halloran katiemaisehalloran@gmail.com If you have any questions about Blue Water Theatre Company in general, please contact: Charlie Leonard Executive & Artistic Director charlie.leonard@bluewatertheatre.com
