APS MUSIC INFORMATION PACK Welcome to the Annandale Public School 2018 Music Program. We would like to introduce and welcome Rochelle Bolitho, who will be joining our music program in 2018, in particular leading our Training Band and Senior Concert Band. Rochelle comes to us with over 15 years experience teaching and conducting music, including implementing and growing the Sydney Secondary College Instrumental Music Program. She has conducted for the NSW DEC Arts Unit and Sydney Region Arts, the NSW DEC State Music Camp, NSW DEC high school bands and the NSW DEC primary band. We are delighted that Rochelle will be joining our music program in 2018. Jillian Wolfe Relieving Assistant Principal Community Engagement and the Arts Our Objectives: All children enjoy making and learning music All children develop their playing skills All children have an opportunity to perform in an ensemble group All children develop a sense of personal worth and pride through successful experiences in music In 2018, we have two bands as well as a Rock Band, Dance Band, a Beginner Recorder Ensemble, Senior Recorder Ensemble and Junior and Senior String Ensemble. Training Band for students with little or no experience; Senior Concert Band for students with a minimum of one year experience; Rock Band; Dance Band; Beginner Recorder Ensemble for students with little or no experience Senior Recorder Ensemble for students with experience to perform at FOIM Junior String Ensemble for students in years P-2 Senior String Ensemble for students with experience to perform at the FOIM Students interested in being a part of one or more of the above groups should complete the attached enrolment form and return to their class teacher. In 2018, if you are participating in the Training Band or Senior Concert Band, there will be no fee to join the Rock Band or Dance Band. If you are just joining the Rock Band or Dance Band, a fee will be incurred. If you have not received an email regarding your student s band allocation by the end of the first week of school, please contact Jillian Wolfe via the email provided.

Music Fees, Hire Fees and Associated Costs: Music membership can add up to a significant amount over the year. With this in mind we charge on a term by term basis. However there are some initial upfront costs. Fees: Music Fees (all non-refundable): o Training Band - $100 per term o Senior Concert Band - $100 per term o Rock Band $100 per term (free for students who are in the Training Band or Senior Concert Band) o Dance Band - $100 (free for students who are in the Training Band or Senior Concert Band) o Junior String Ensemble - $100 per term o Senior String Ensemble - $100 per term + $40 Festival Fee o Beginner Recorder no fee (school recorder - $10) o Recorder Consort - $40 Festival Fee o Music Books (purchased by student and recommended by tutor) approx. $60 Tutor Fees o Determined by individual tutors. Uniform o Music T-shirt from Uniform Shop ($20) o Full school uniform, white socks, and black shoes. Music Camp o TBA Instrument Hire (if required) o Percussion (all percussionists must pay this fee) - $20 per term o All other instruments - $50 per term o External hiring is also available All music fees are used to cover the cost of music scores, instrument purchases and repairs, photocopying, copyright licenses, entry into various festivals and events, auditions, and the fees for our Band Master.

Instrument Hire Some instruments are available for hire from the school. For new Band members, these are available to take home once we have received payment for all band and instrument hire fees AND the completed indemnity form. You will not be able to collect an instrument unless these fees are paid. Existing band members who have retained their instrument over the summer holidays must ensure they have completed the required indemnity form and payment of their instrument hire by 16 February 2018. Due care of the hired instrument is required and full responsibility must be taken by the band member and their parents/carers. Sax & Woodwind and Brass also have instruments for hire. Music Rehearsal Commitments Rehearsal times are as follows: Training Band: Senior Concert Band: Rock Band: Dance Band: Junior String Ensemble: Senior String Ensemble: Recorder Consorts: Thursday 1.00pm 2.00pm 6S Tuesday and Thursday 1.30-2.00pm 1D Rehearsals for all bands (except Training Band) will commence in week two. Training Band rehearsals will be advised later in term one by your Co-Ordinator. Parental Involvement All music parents are required to help administer the program. Parental involvement and consistent support from all families allows the program to function efficiently. There are a vast number of roles to perform even for the busiest parents: committee; assisting at performances; supervision at music intensive and camps; transport of equipment. There are plenty of opportunities to be part of the Music Program.

Communication All communication will be provided to you through the Music Co-ordinators via email. It is VERY IMPORTANT you provide us with a regularly checked and accessible email address. Without an accessible email address we cannot keep you up to date with rehearsal changes, lesson changes, events, etc. We will also share basic information through the school app. If you have any forms to submit, please deliver to the classroom teacher or the office. APS Music Program Indemnity Form In making this request to apply for (list performance group here) I AGREE to pay my band fees promptly and in full when due.
