Big Fish Big Fish is a new Broadway musical featuring music and lyrics by Tony nominee Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family, The Wild Party) and a new book by esteemed screenwriter John August (Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, Big Fish centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest and then some! Edward s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father s epic tales. Overflowing with heart, humor, and spectacular stagecraft, Big Fish is an extraordinary new Broadway musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre for an experience that s richer, funnier, and bigger than life itself. Rehearsals & Attendance Expectations Rehearsals for actors who are cast in principal/lead roles for Big Fish will begin on Monday, June 29. Rehearsals for the rest of the cast will begin on Monday, July 6. Rehearsals will be held daily (Monday through Friday) from 9:00 to 4:00 through Thursday, July 30 (opening night of the show). Once full-cast rehearsals begin on Monday, July 6, you can expect that (in general) all actors will be called to every single rehearsal for the entire day. Due to the speed with which we have to move through material during the summer show, it is impractical for us to attempt to break down our days into specific hours when we need specific groups of kids. Somewhere around July 8 or 9 we will move to Wayzata Central Middle School (305 Vicksburg Lane, Plymouth) for the remainder of the production. It is expected that, if you are auditioning for this show, you are available at all rehearsals beginning on June 29 (if you are cast as a lead) and running through July 30. Please indicated on your audition form if this is NOT the case. Performance Dates There will be three performances of Big Fish. They will take place on: Thursday, July 30 @ 7:00pm Friday, July 31 @ 7:00pm Saturday, August 1 @ 7:00pm There will be a set strike following the Saturday evening show for which all cast members are expected to stay. This could last as late as midnight. Parents are welcome (and encouraged!) to help out as well!
