ABOUT US The Jamaica Musical Theatre Company was founded in 1960 in an effort to give gifted individuals the opportunity to flex their theatrical muscles through the art of musical theatre. For its first 24 years J.M.T.C was comprised only of adult performers. However, in 1984, driven by his love for children and the belief that talent should be honed from a young age Mr Douglas Bennett (Chairman of Jamaica Musical Theatre) founded the junior arm of JMTC; which was dubbed Jamaica Junior Theatre (JJT). JJT is a semi-professional Children s Theatre Company that has maintained over twenty years of tradition in staging wholesome and entertaining musicals for families islandwide. As the youth arm of the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company we have consistently sought to promote the use of dance, music and acting among Jamaican youth as a mode of self expression and self discovery. Through this creative energy we also seek to raise funds which are donated annually to various children charities. This year s musical production unfolds at the Phillip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts on Friday, January 4, 2013 until February 17, 2013. The JJT program provides young people with a supportive and fun environment, encouraging the development of artistic skills, self-respect, confidence, imagination, creativity and social skills. We welcome young people from all walks of life that share one common passion THEATRE!!
