Full Length Play Comedy 120 minutes 1960s Accolades: Winner! 2011 Evening Standard Theatre Awards Best Play Synopsis: Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small time East End hood, now in Brighton to collect 6,000 from the dad of his fiancée. But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who has been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers. Holed up at The Cricketers Arms, the permanently ravenous Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with Stanley Stubbers, who is hiding from the police and waiting to be reunited with Rachel. To prevent discovery, Francis must keep his two guvnors apart. Simple. Based on the classic Italian comedy The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldoni, in this new English version by prizewinning playwright Richard Bean, sex, food and money are high on the agenda.

Character: an aspiring actor- dramatic gestures and accentuated dialogue HARRY DANGLE: Alan's father. Age range: Somewhere in his fifties /sixties. Physique: written as heavy set. Character: Clench's crooked solicitor- dapper and faintly sleazy. STANLEY STUBBERS: an upper-class criminal and Rachel's lover. Age range: thirty something. Physique: athletically built type. Character: Roscoe's murderer. Strides about with confidence. Lounge lizard type. RACHEL CRABBE: Roscoe's identical twin sister. Age range: twenties/early thirties. Physique: pretending to be a man (her brother) Character: energetic and confident. Gruff snarls pretending to be manly. FRANCIS HENSHALL: a scheming assistant. Age range: thirty-something. Physique: cheeky and chubby. Character: accidently employed by two masters. Always hungry. Puppy, clumsy innocence with an infectious grin. LLOYD BOATENG: Charlie s friend- an ex-con turned pub owner. Age range: forties/ fifties. Physique: written as Jamaican with a shaved head. Character: Cheery smile. He is also the pub s chef. DOLLY: Charlie's secretary. Age range: twenties/ thirties. Physique: voluptuous. Written with beehive hair. Character: flirtatious with a scarlet lipsticky grin over her shoulder. Bossy. Wiggles on heels. GARETH: head waiter at The Cricketers Arms. Age range: forties. Physique: efficient and streamlined. Character: oversees operations with a flick of the wrist and a lifted eyebrow. ALFIE: waiter. Age range: ancient Physique: hard of hearing and nearly blind. Character: cadaverous - shuffles along, back bowed and bewildered. ENSEMBLE: party guests, extra porters/waiters, passer-by, a vicar, policemen.
AUDITIONS, FEES & RESPONSIBILITIES Audition Bookings: Audition Requirements: BTC Membership: Cast Commitment: Saturday 25 March (morning) and Monday 27 March (evening), in time blocks of 10-15 minutes. Please book here: www.trybooking.com/267680 You will be asked to read from an excerpt of the One Man, Two Guvnors script, and follow direction within the audition room, which may include blocking, or taking direction. An individual photo will be taken of you, prior to your audition, for casting purposes. All cast, crew and others directly involved in the production must sign the included BTC Membership form and pay the appropriate fees at first rehearsal: $30 Adult, or, $20 Junior, and, $30 Players Fee This is a legal requirement in order to be covered by BTC s insurance. Participation in rehearsals cannot occur unless this process is complete. Check you are available to commit to all dates for rehearsal and performances prior to auditioning. If you are absent during any of the rehearsal or performance season please note this in the space provided on the audition form We appreciate you do have other commitments in your life, but we must be aware of these dates before we set the rehearsal schedule to ensure productive use of rehearsal time. Three missed rehearsals without a reasonable explanation may put you at risk of not staying in the production. The minimum expectation is that you will do your homework ; practicing directions you have been given, learning your dialogue and rehearsing movements. REHEARSAL INFORMATION Rehearsal Venue: BTC Arts Shed 15 17 Allingham Street Golden Square Rehearsal Contact: Rehearsal Times: Cast Roll: Rehearsals: Closed Shop : Refreshments: Scripts: If you are running late, or experience any problems please call the BTC Mobile Number: 0401 678 102 Every Thursday (7:00pm 10:00pm) & Sunday (1:00pm 4:00pm), beginning Sunday 2 nd April. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled in consultation with the cast. Upon arrival, you will be required to sign the attendance roll. This is important in the event of an evacuation or emergency. All cast will be provided with a rehearsal schedule, detailing the scenes that will be worked on at each rehearsal. There is an expectation that cast will have familiarized themselves with the scheduled scenes in the days prior to the rehearsal. Rehearsals are for workshopping, refining and perfecting; not learning. Rehearsals are restricted to persons directly involved in the production. Cast are welcome to attend and watch every rehearsal even if they are not scheduled. Tea, coffee, etc. are available in the Green Room at The Arts Shed. We as that you please contribute to the money tin on the table, on occasion, to help cover costs relating to this. A script will be allocated to you at the first rehearsal. These are hired from ORiGiN Theatrical, and must be returned at the conclusion of the performance season. These can only be marked with a HB Pencil, which must be erased prior to returning. Please do not use pen or highlighter, or a script replacement fee will be incurred.

All cast are responsible for providing their own socks, hosiery unless otherwise specified. All questions regarding costumes should be directed to the director, costume designer/coordinator. BTC owns a limited stock of makeup for performances in the Arts Shed. Cast are encouraged to bring their own makeup (especially if they have allergies). If mascara/eye liner is required, cast must supply their own.
