Audition Information for AVENUE Q Four Seasons Theatre will present AVENUE Q from August 9-18, 2013 in the Drury Theatre at the Bartell. Auditions will take place on Sunday, September 23 from 2 pm to 5 pm and 6 pm to 10 pm. Callbacks are scheduled for Tuesday, September 25 from 7 pm to 10 pm. Location information for auditions will be sent with your email confirmation of day and time. How to sign up for an audition: Advance sign up for auditions is required. Email your name, phone number, and the roles your are interested in to audition@fourseasonstheatre.com to make an appointment. You will receive a confirmation email with your exact time and audition location once your request is received and processed. Please allow a few days for a response. Video submission for those who are unable to attend in person auditions may be submitted by email to info@fourseasonstheatre.com by 5 pm on Friday, September 21. Email submission should follow the same guidelines as in person auditions and should include the calendar with marked conflicts, completed audition form, and a link to a video audition. What to prepare: Please prepare 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre piece (Menken, Ahrens and Flaherty,Schwartz). Avoid rock/pop shows like RENT or Spring Awakening. Please have your music clearly marked and in a 3- ring binder with pages copied back to back. A professional accompanist will be provided. A cappella auditions are discouraged. Print out and complete the Audition Form. Print out and mark any conflicts on the schedule page. Bring both with you to your audition. Schedule: Rehearsals will run from Sunday, June 16 through Thursday, August 8 performances December 9-18 (see draft schedule on page 4). Please bring your calendar to the auditions so you can note any conflicts at that time. Casting Decisions: Casting decisions will be made by Sunday, September 30. All actors who are cast in AVENUE Q will receive a personal phone call by 9 pm on Sunday, September 30. In addition, the cast list will be posted on the Four Seasons Theatre website at that time.
AVENUE Q Show Synopsis: Winner of the Tony "Triple Crown" for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, AVENUE Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. AVENUE Q is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that although the residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. B2 - F#4 Baritone CHRISTMAS EVE An archetypal Asian immigrant who wants to be a therapist and does a killer Judy Garland impersonation. Mid 20s to early 30s. B3 - F#5 GARY COLEMAN Yes, that Gary Coleman but now a superintendent of a building on Avenue Q. In our story, Gary is played by a woman. D3 - Bb5 Belt voice or Alto KATE MONSTER A Kindergarten teaching assistant, a bit older than Princeton. Mid 20s. F#3 - F5 Soprano LUCY A boa-wearing nightclub singer who likes to seduce young guys like Princeton. Mid 20s to mid 30s. F3 - F5 Alto - Belting MRS. T Ancient, cranky, and thistle-like. The Kindergarten teacher who Kate Monster works for NICKY A bit of a slacker, who lives with Rod. Think Ernie from Sesame Street. Mid 20s to early 30s. B2 - B4 PRINCETON ROD THE BAD IDEA BEARS TREKKIE MONSTER A fresh-faced kid just out of college. Bb2 - G4 A Republican investment banker (resembles Bert from Sesame Street) who lives with Nicky. Rod is struggling with being gay and comes out over the course of the show. Mid 20s to early 30s. A2 - G4 Two little bears who like to come out and convince good people to do bad bad things...in a snuggly way. 1 female voice (Mezzo) and 1 male voice (Baritone) (Not to be confused with Cookie Monster, although the vocal resemblance is uncanny)- a monster who lives in the building on Avenue Q is very obsessed with using the internet for naughty things!
