LANmark PCB Patch Panel, 1 HU During installation, care of LANmark-6 products is much more critical than when installing LANmark-5 or other Nexans Category 5e products. The high levels of performance can only be guaranteed if the installation procedures are followed. Special attention must be given to keep the length of untwist of the pairs to as little as possible. 1HU Assemble the cage nuts to both side flanges of the frame or cabinet. Open up the patch panel by releasing the two 1/4 turn lock screws at each end of the patch panel front plate. Rear side view 1. Mount the patch panel on to the assembled cage nuts. 2. Remove the cable entry cover of the metal housing. This makes it easier to pass the cables through to the front of the patch panel. Earthing : 1. The patch panel is automatically earthed if used in conjunction with the Nexans Quick Mount Cabinet. 2. Where the patch panels are mounted onto a painted or coated frame, it will be necessary to connect the earth wire of the panel with a Scotch Lock to the 2.5 mm 2 signal earth wire. Four additional earthing tags, suitable for 9mm spade connectors, are available in the patch panel located at each end of the Clip-on cable guide. Pull the cables through the rear side of the patch panel. Locate the cables under the rear Clip-on cable guide ready to organise them into the correct sequence for punch down. Prepare the cable for termination UTP UTP cable : Cut off the outer jacket for the shown length. If present, cut off the C 3 central cross member. FTP 5 cm FTP cable : Cut off the outer jacket and the outer foil for the shown length. This makes the aluminium side of the inner foil visible. If present, cut off the C 3 central cross member. S-FTP 12 cm 5 cm S-FTP and STP cable : Cut off the outer sheath and braid for the shown length. STP 5 cm 12 cm Once the jackets have been prepared replace the cable labels with a permanent label solution. 12 cm 5 cm Nexans Cabling Solutions Installation Guide LANmark PCB patch panel, 1 HU - 3
1. Mount the twisted pair cables coming from the outlets. 2. Important : make sure the aluminium side of the inner foil makes contact with the front Clip-on cable guide. This is a means of guaranteeing an optimal contact of the foil to the ground. 3. It is advisable to leave the outer jacket so that it extends under the front Clip-on cable guide. This will avoid putting any strain on the foil. The wires must be punched down using the correct tool for DH8 contacts. Do not untwist the pairs longer than necessary. The colour code for 568A or 568B pair sequencing must be respected through the complete installation. NOTE : LANmark-6 patch panels For F 2 TP only ; slide the drain wire through the opening in the metal shielding of the connector housing.pull the drain wire into the contact and trim back. Manage in and dress the cables into the rack or fame. When the patch panel is closed after termination of the cables this will add to the bending radius of the cables and facilitate access to the patch panel post installation. If the cables are dressed and managed into the frame or cabinet with the patch panel closed it is often not possible to pull the patch panel forward for access later on due to the tightness of the cables. Keep a minimum of 35cm distance between the front side of the patch panel and the fixing point of the cables in the cabinet or frame. Put the top cable entry cover back in place. Gently slide back the patch panel into the rack. Nexans Cabling Solutions Installation Guide LANmark PCB patch panel, 1 HU - 5
Close the patch panels using the black fastener clips on the front of the patch panel and slide in an identification label. Always terminate the first patch panel completely before starting the installation of a second patch panel. IMPORTANT REMARKS : For all LANmark 1HU patch panels, you need to use a patch guide for each 48 ports. The 2HU patch guide (102.106) is not permitted to be used with these LANmark panels because the bending radius of the patchcords can not be respected. The recommended patch guides are the 2HU (102.126) guide for LANmark-6 installations and the 1HU (202.106) patch guide for all other installations.
