CENTRAL AVENUE DANCE: The History of Black Dance in America The Central Avenue Dance Ensemble is a multi-aged performance group led by Chester Whitmore. The group aims to show the connections between dance forms from generation to generation. When they arrive, they find a rapidly developing set of unexpected, unlikely, and disturbing circumstances that have them running for cover, and turning on each other at a moment s notice. *Contains Adult Content and Language LOS ANGELES PERCUSSION QUARTET The Grammy-nominated Los Angeles Percussion Quartet (LAPQ) has forged a distinct identity as a world-class contemporary chamber music ensemble that is dedicated to commissioning and presenting new works for percussion quartets. JILL GROVE IN RECITAL American mezzo-soprano Jill Grove has won critical raves throughout the United States and Europe for her distinguished portrayals of the heroines of German and Italian opera. Pianist Victoria Kirsch lives to collaborate. Praised for her innovative programming and strong musical presence, she is committed to stretching the definition of traditional concert presentation. This recital includes art songs, arias and theater songs, including Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe und Leben, Op. 42, which translates to A Woman s Love and Life.
