Day to day operations Before School Kids drop off instruments before school After School Kids get their instruments after school Directors are usually at the band hall by 7:10 am Directors usually leave around 5:30 pm (4:30 F) Kids are allowed to practice if there is an open practice room Kids can practice after school if there is an open room
What to expect each day.. Review of general music skills Breathing Masters of the alphabet Rhythm Rockers Kids watching themselves in mirrors Students will begin taking their instrument home at different times (brass around the third week) The Kids will need your support
Practicing At least 5 days out of the week Same time of day Log in all practice as part of routine Proper equipment (stand,chair, quiet room) Amount of time they are able to practice will increase during the year Practice records count for 20% of grade
How to support your child Students are acquiring a new set of skills and each student develops at a different rate. Praise them A LOT Encourage them to practice Have them perform for you and your family Come to concerts-make it an event PRIVATE LESSONS

Fundraiser Begins September 11 th and ends September 25 th Money obtained through fundraising helps finance: $$$ Private lesson scholarships for students with financial need $$$ Clinicians and consultants brought in to work with band students $$$ Student awards The desired goal of this fundraiser is $125 in profit per student. We will happily accept donations in lieu of fundraiser participation!

Grades The grades will be divided into the following categories: 50% (major), 30%(minor) & 20%(daily) Major- Concert Attendance, Rehearsal attendance, Unit objective(masters of the Alphabet) Minor- Test Grades and Performance Attire, Participation/Supplies Daily Practice log submitted into Charms
Grades/Eligibility No Pass/No Play- state law Check HAC regularly so that there are no surprises at the end of the six weeks Encourage students to attend morning tutorials or use Viking Time to keep grades up
Attendance Policy
Please notify of us any conflicts with events as soon as possible.
Do s and Don ts Practice for results and end the session when goals are met. Make it a game! Keep distractions to a minimum: no radio or TV. Set up a daily schedule and stick to it. Treat practice as part of your homework. Always use a metronome. Use a music stand and a chair that promotes good posture when practicing. This helps avoid the formation of bad habits.

Band Fees VMSBB All Band Students $80
Band Fees You can pay your $80 band registration in three ways: Fastest: Paypal VMSBB vmsbb16@yahoo.com You can do at home. Use the 'send to friends and family' to save us the fee. Slower: Check written to VMSBB. Place in box next to treasurer at meeting. Your canceled check is your receipt. Slowest: Cash in an envelope with your child's name and grade printed on the front. A receipt will be handwritten
