September October 2008 Voluteer Profile: Le ad Grace Swaso Throughout their 40 years i Gle Elly, Le ad Grace Swaso have made voluteerig a sigificat part of their lives. Whe their three childre were youg, the Swasos voluteered for Idia Guides, Scout Troops ad PTA. Later, Le served o the Zoig Board of Appeals ad the Pla Commissio where he recetly fiished his term of office. Grace was a member of the Library Board ad served as its presidet i the late 1980s ad early 1990s. A retired trial lawyer, Le's iterest i the law first led him to the Zoig Board of Appeals. "I wated to lear about the process of zoig ad plaig," Le said. "I thik people should cosider their uique talets ad iterests ad choose a commissio accordigly." Later, as a member of the Pla Commissio, Le was ivolved with several high-profile projects, icludig ew towhome projects ad the Daby Crossig Shoppig Ceter. "We had to evaluate thigs like desity, traffic patters, sidewalks ad driveways, as well as etraces ad exits." "As commissio members, we do't eact ordiaces," Le cotiued, "but rather evaluate the project, hold a hearig ad make our recommedatios to the Village Board, which makes the fial determiatio."
