Equipment and Requirement for Supporting Rooms (A) Control Room Table and chairs for 2 people shall be provided. Control Room shall be located at the back of the Lecture Theatre with direct and unobstructed vision to the stage. Individual entrance shall be provided. Size of the Control Room shall not be smaller than 7 sq.m.. (Information as provided from Campus Development and Engineering Section (CDE), Fig. 2.32) Timber or fabric wall panels shall be applied in some areas for acoustic purpose. (C) Breakout Area Breakout Area shall be close to the entrance to Lecture Theatre. Size of the Breakout Area shall not be smaller than one third of the size of the Lecture Theatre. (D) Restroom for Guest Lecturer Restroom for Guest Lecturer shall be close to the Lecture Theatre. Sofas or chairs shall be provided. (B) Simultaneous Translation Rooms Table and chairs for 2 people shall be provided, partitions shall also be provided in-between. Simultaneous Translation Rooms shall be located at the back of the Lecture Theatre with direct and unobstructed vision to the stage. Individual entrance shall be provided. Size of the Simultaneous Translation Room shall not be smaller than 2.5 sq.m.. Timber or fabric wall panels shall be applied in most of the areas for aesthetic and better acoustic purpose. Acoustic wall panels could be considered. (B) Floor finishes Heavy duty anti-static carpet tiles or wall-to-wall carpet shall be adopted. Timber skirting shall be adopted. (C) Ceiling finishes Plaster with emulsion paint shall be adopted. Selected aluminum or feature ceiling with recessed lighting shall be applied for aesthetic and acoustic purpose. (D) Furniture Loose teaching console with control panel shall be provided. All seats shall have full view of the stage without obstructed sightline. The seats shall be of the same proprietary product and have the same outlook. Different colors shall be considered. All fixed seats shall have a minimum of 510mm width and minimum of 850mm tier depth (all centre to centre). Cushion padded seats and armrest shall be provided to all seats. Writing pad shall be incorporated in the seating. 2 numbers of white boards shall be installed. 2 numbers of tack boards shall be provided on both sides. (E) Setting for Projection Screen Distance from projection screen to the first row of seats shall not be less than 2.5m. (Fig. 2.36) Distance from projection screen to the last row of seats shall not be longer than 15m. (Fig. 2.20) Overlapping between projection screen and white board shall be minimized. (Fig. 2.35) E&M Installation Requirement The Lecture Theatre shall be fully furnished with air-conditioning system. Lighting provisions for general purpose shall be provided. Various uses such as movie showing/ projection shall be furnished with suitable lighting provisions. Scene design control should be considered. Adequate numbers of 13A sockets shall be installed along the walls. Wireless and LAN internet access shall be provided for the Lecture Theatre. The Audio and Visual System shall be on an integrated computerized monitoring and control system through the control panel in teaching console. The design standard shall be allowed the entire system to support the venue to host lecture/ seminar for teaching purpose. The design, specification, operation and performance shall be up to relevant international standard and trade practice in the region.
