Dear Students and Parents, The Great Gatsby Cast & Crew Application Students who are members of the Tompkins Theatre Company have the opportunity to audition for our fall play. ONLY Theatre company members may audition. To join go to our website www.tompkinstheatre.com and complete a membership form and return to Mrs. Rod or Mr. Matthew in room 1130/1131. Auditions for cast will be held August 31 st & September 1 st from 3:00-5:00 in the PAC. The auditions will consist of a ONE MINUTE memorized monologue and cold reads. The monologue may come from any source. Students must plan to attend both days of auditions. All students must sit through the entire audition and behave properly to be considered for the cast. The cast and crew list will be posted ONLINE Friday September 2 ND in the evening. For crew you must attend both audition days and be as helpful as possible. If you are interested in a crew head position you may be called in for an interview. Tuesday, September 6 th is our first read through. The read through is MANDATORY. Regular rehearsals begin Wednesday September 7 th. Attached is the rehearsal schedule. Please go over this schedule and compare it to your personal schedule, if you have any conflicts they must be written on the audition form to be excused. Also please know that excessive conflicts can affect your chances of being cast. Unexcused absences will result in your replacement! Attached is a contract for this production. We have only a limited amount of time to put together this production. A parent and potential cast member must COMPLETELY READ the contract and sign the agreement at the bottom of the audition application before being allowed to audition. It is important that everyone involved know the responsibilities expected for this performance. NOTE: This show will be adjudicated and possibly selected to be performed at the International Thespian Festival. Students may be asked to commit to another performance in late June 2017. The selection process takes several months and will be announced late January. Parents play a vital role in the success for each show. It is next to impossible to pull off a production without the help of parent volunteers. The last page of this packet is a parent volunteer sheet; we can use all the help we can get. We would appreciate each parent of a child in the cast be willing to donate at least one hour of volunteer time to ensure the success of the show. PAGES 4 & 5 ARE DUE NO LATER THAN 12PM AUGUST 31ST!!! NO LATE AUDITION APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED!!! Break a leg! Thank you, Maggie Rodriguez & Jay Matthew Tompkins Theatre Co. Directors 1

Cast & Crew Contract I understand that in accepting a role either in the cast or crew I am making a commitment to do the following: I will have a positive attitude. I will work as a member of a team for the good of the show. I understand that I will incur a production fee. Information will be handed early in the rehearsal process. The following is the explanation of the Tardy Policy: The student will inform the director in a timely manner of the tardy. If a student cannot inform the director in a timely manner (i.e. the teacher asked you that day to stay after to complete some work) you must bring a note from that teacher to be excused. 3 Unexcused Tardies = 1 Unexcused Absence, Unexcused Absences = my replacement. Actors missing an entrance is a tardy in the worst sense of the word! I understand that rehearsals begin promptly at 2:45. I will not leave until the director has dismissed me. Leaving early without proper dismissal may result in my replacement in the cast or crew. NO ONE LEAVES UNTIL EVERYONE LEAVES! I understand there is to be NO FOOD OR DRINK on stage or back stage at any time! It is my responsibility to keep the rehearsal/work areas clean at all times whether it is my trash or not. I will be accountable for my part in this production and make sure my job is done properly. I will observe the rules set for the rehearsal/work area and will follow directions when they are given. I will refrain from touching things that are under the jurisdiction of another crew because I know that doing so can cost money and valuable time. I will attend all rehearsals/workdays. Students will only be excused from a rehearsal if they have written the conflict on their audition form -AND- have filled out the anticipated absence form 24 hours in advance. Unanticipated absences will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Mandatory rehearsals are MANDATORY!!! Absolutely no student will be excused from these rehearsals unless extenuating circumstances have occurred. I understand that all performances are mandatory!!! (Why audition if you didn t want to perform in all performances?) I will keep my grades up. I understand No Pass No Play applies to this activity. I understand that failure to adhere to any and all of the previously stated rules and procedures may result in my replacement. 3
