As a parent of a musician under 18 years of age our bylaws specify you are a member as well. Parents are expected to participate whatever way they can (financially with hours) to make a commitment of time to suppt the KYO so we can remain a viable ganization now and in the future.

Dear KYO parents: We Need You! Thank you f choosing the Kawartha Youth Orchestra (again). You signed up because you believe playing music is the right thing f you daughters and sons. We would agree: it is well documented that making music has profound positive effects on the developing brain. Why should you help the KYO? The chestra was conceived & implemented and is run by volunteer parents and friends who think like you. To maintain our program of education excellence and financial assistance, it is essential that we all try to pitch in. We strongly encourage you to share your own skills, experience and enthusiasm to help create an even better experience f our young musicians. Please get to know us better by volunteering. 2018-19 Kawartha Youth Orchestra Membership Agreement (complete one fm per family) Musician Name (s): It is very imptant that musicians are committed to attending all rehearsals, concerts, master classes and other KYO activities. In the event of illness an unavoidable conflict, please infm our Secretary, Susan Williamson, by calling texting (705) 931-0611 emailing swilliamson23@cogeco.ca. Musicians missing me than 20% of regular rehearsals and/ dress rehearsals will need to consult with the conduct to confirm participation in the concert perfmance. In der to ensure the safety of members, the parents/guardians of juni seni chestra members under the age of 16 are asked to esct their child(ren) into All Saints Church Hall and sign them in and out at the beginning and end of rehearsal respectively. Again f safety, both juni and seni chestras parents of musicians under the age of 16 are asked to arrive promptly f pick up at the end of rehearsal. If musicians under the age of 16 are to make their own way home, will be picked up by another individual not listed on the musician registration fm, the Orchestra parent representative must be notified. With respect to inclement weather and cancelling rehearsals, a decision will be made by the KYO conduct and President by 10 a.m. Sunday mning f seni chestra rehearsal and by the JKYO conduct and President by noon Wednesday f juni chestra rehearsal. We will attempt to establish a text-tree in addition to a broadcast email to all musicians and families to get wd out. Music folders that are on loan must be returned at the end of the concert season in good condition. Folders must be returned no later than May 5, 2019 the $25.00 deposit will be retained. Where financially possible we expect parents and musicians to volunteer in whatever way they can. These might include volunteering your time to help run the chestra, assisting with KYO activities and fundraising by donating, selling and purchasing products and/ making a personal tax deductible donation. I understand that in the event my child is unable to continue with the KYO, I will infm the conduct and send written notification by email to the KYO President at info@thekyo.g. Fees will be payable f the remainder of the month in which the KYO receives written notification and any remaining cheques will be returned and/ a refund will be issued f the remaining months.
