GENERAL INFO ABOUT A Midsummer Night s Dream - Students are not allowed to audition without turning in this completed audition contract at the time of audition. - Auditions will take place on Friday, December 1 st starting at 2:30 p.m. in the drama room (A-18). Sign up for an audition time slot the audition sign-up sheet will be on the drama bulletin board, just outside the west drama room door. Only sign up for a time slot if you know for sure that you will be auditioning. - All auditioners MUST find and prepare a 1-minute COMEDIC monologue from one of Shakespeare s plays. Please be prepared! Members of Theatre Council will be happy to help you find a monologue. - OPTIONAL, BUT ENCOURAGED: Everyone will have a 3 minute time-slot for their audition. In addition to your 1-minute monologue, please consider preparing and performing (instrumental and/or vocal) a 1-minute selection of one of songs listed below. If you desire, feel free to bring in extra musicians to accompany you (form your own 80s band J). Please provide your own instruments an electronic keyboard is more fitting than a regular piano for this play. If you need a keyboard, let me know and I ll try to arrange to have one on the day of auditions. Our version of A Midsummer Night s Dream will be 80s-themed and include music, so being able to sing stylistically or play an instrument will help your audition, though it isn t required. For more info, please speak to Mr. Purdie. - We Belong by Pat Benatar - I ll Stop the World and Melt With You by Modern English - Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benatar - The Safety Dance by Men Without Hats - The callback list will be posted on the Timpview Theatre website (www.timpviewtheatre.com) the evening of Friday, December 1 st. - Callbacks will take place the following morning, Saturday, December 2 nd from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in the drama room. - Receiving an invitation for callbacks does not guarantee you a role in the play. Likewise, not being invited to callbacks does not mean that you won t receive a role in the play. - The final cast list will be posted on the Timpview Theatre website (www.timpviewtheatre.com) on Sunday, December 3 rd OR Monday, December 4 th. - We will have a full cast read-through and cast meeting on Tuesday, December 12 th from 2:30-5:00 p.m. in the drama room. All cast members and a parent/guardian are required to attend a mandatory meeting immediately following the read-through at 5:00 p.m. in the drama room. I will try my best to keep it under one hour. - Our main rehearsals will begin on January 3 rd! - Cast members are required to come ON TIME to all rehearsals they are scheduled for. Rehearsals will be held Monday-Friday after school and will usually last until 4:30 or 5:30 p.m., extending beyond that time as we get closer to performances. There will also be some additional Saturday rehearsals required. - You may not be scheduled for all rehearsals, especially in the first 1-2 weeks. I will be respectful of your time. The size and demands of your role may dictate how often you are needed. However, as the performance dates near and we begin running acts of the show, students will be required every day. You may not miss rehearsal for any reason 3 weeks before we open the show due to our VERY TIGHT schedule and heavy run-throughs and tech/dress rehearsals. - Performances of A Midsummer Night s Dream will take place on Feb. 8, 9, 10, and 12. - Please come talk to me or email me at jpurdie@provo.edu for more information or if you have any questions. - Our Theatre Council members are also happy to help you find and prepare monologues.
