But then he thinks of All his Great mates and realises that with so many good People in the world this is very unlikely. - But what if????/ Would we be ready? As the Scout Motto is "Be Prepared" Scruffie thought it may be good to focus on the 2% chance. He quickly Spoke with Tony and Agreed that The Troop should have a Survival Camp to Train all the Patrols in the event of the worst....unfortunately, this was so popular that almost all the Scouts Booked in!!(ed. Maybe they had also been watching the news) This meant that the Leadership team needed to be prepared as well. He quickly spoke with his Editor and instructed him to create a Leadership Training day, where the Patrol leadership could learn about, Kitchens, Sleeping Shelters,Fire's and cooking. This would make them ready for the camp. Prepare for "OUTCAST ISLAND" Scruffie the Adventure Dog, Chief Teaching Instructor, Model Builder, Fire Master, Rope Wright, Parent liaison, Youth engagement officer, Leadership Thought Leader. Listen to your Adventure Dog Instructor Build a Fire for cooking Select from 5 Menu Choices Cook your meal for your patrol by 19h00 Build 1 Sleeping Shelter to complete no later than 19h00 1 Kitchen Shelter - 45min deadline at your prescribed time. Delegate jobs and assign duties. Prepare menu for next week. Determine your THEME Ensure Patrol Symbol assigned. Prepare First Aid Kit SCRUFFIES NEWS MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT: Do like News? Scruffie Says that a lot of Leadership is learning how to negotiate and communicate with others. You can be organised and have great ideas but to get them done requires others to go along with you. Not everyone can use the fact that they are an adventure dog to win them over. Work Begins on A-Frames and Tripods. Statutory state minimum entrance doorway sizes are very strict, even on temporary structures. Starting a Tripod, Strong support Structure. Connect a Tripod and and A- FRAME with a NEW TONY ridge pole Looking Good. Scruffies says the square lashings are getting better. Progress on A-Frames continues, Some are too large, others too small. Will one be just right? Even Zombies are welcome or at least tolerated on Outcast Island. To cook the perfect meal takes patience and attention to Details. Scruffie may be loud and bombastic but not everyone has to be. many great leaders are quite, organised, attentive and focussed. (Ed. Building an Aframe for the Kitchen Shelter And from the other end. How many socialites does it take to build a Kitchen Shelter - 2 Apparently. Ooops and One more to Act like Atlas and hold up the Sky. (Ed...and clearly a Builiding inspector to Test the Beam strength) But with a little help from a construction expert, soon the Shelters are completed and within time.
Meanwhile Indoors, Each patrol is reaching the point where they are almost complete, Scruffie starts to verify Stability Other scouts complete the final improvements before judging. Scruffie compares the model to the Reality, He Instructs his Chief Judge and Building Asssesor Steve, and directs Steve to investigate and inspect Each patrols structures. Scruffie and Steve then Discuss the various Items on the Score card. Who will be the winning patrol?
