The Joffrey Pre-Professional Intensive Summer Orientation & Welcome Orientation and Arrival Program Orientation is REQUIRED for all dancers, but only the first week of their arrival. Mondays, 9:00AM at 434 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10011 All classes will be in Joffrey Dance Center and (info below). Joffrey Dance Center 47-10 Austell Place, 4 th Floor 434 Avenue of the Americas Long Island City, NY 11101 New York, NY 10011 Schedules and Class Assignment Class starts at 9:45AM. If you are commuting, please plan accordingly. Your specific class schedules will be online the Sunday before Monday classes here: http://summer.joffreyballetschool.com/summer-program/schedules/. Groups will all be of varied age. All group placements will be emailed in advance. Group placements are based off of the performance of the student at their audition. Instructors will be reviewing students in class during the first day of classes and will inform the Artistic Director, Davis Robertson, if a student should be moved. Changes will only be made at the discretion of faculty and/or the Artistic Director. All classes will be in Joffrey Dance Center and (info below). Joffrey Dance Center 47-10 Austell Place, 4 th Floor 434 Avenue of the Americas Long Island City, NY 11101 New York, NY 10011 After-School Activities and Shows We have arranged for after-school activities to enhance the experience and complement the training of the students in New York. From Alvin Ailey to American Ballet Theater to Broadway shows, the activities are designed to expose the students to dance as it is performed by professionals in venues around the city. All activities are chaperoned by Joffrey Staff, to and from the event and the dormitories. If you are a commuter student you will be informed where to meet the group. At the end of the packet is a description of each of the activities, their cost, and the dates they are offered. The details of the activities and online registration can be found at http://joffreyballetschool.com/summer-extra-activities. Tickets are limited and always sell out so please sign up for them as soon as you can. Please be aware we add a small surcharge, typically five dollars, to the cost of the ticket printed on the stub to cover the cost of providing the chaperones.

After you have signed up there is nothing else you need to do. The various student groups are escorted by chaperones to the event where tickets will be distributed. Dress Code FEMALE: Ballet: Joffrey Black leotard, any pink tights and pink ballet slippers Other classes: Joffrey dance shorts/pants with a Joffrey fitted T-Shirt. MALE: Ballet: Black tights, Joffrey white or black T-Shirt Other classes: Black tights or Joffrey Bike Shorts, white or black Joffrey T-Shirt Male and Female students in the Summer Intensive must purchase the required uniform. Cell Phones must be turned off during class and stowed safely in your dance bag. Dance bags with valuables should be brought into the classroom and stored out of the way; the school is not responsible for personal belongings. No warm-up clothes may be worn once class has begun. No jewelry is to be worn during class. All students must adhere to the Dress Code and wear their name tags. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late to class will not be allowed to participate in that class. If you are going to be absent from class, please email dhardee@joffreyballetschool.com We do not recommend that students under the age of 13 leave the building without a chaperone. Parents should meet their children in the school lobby. Tuition must be current or students will not be permitted to attend class. Snacks & Lunch No peanuts or tree nuts are permitted at the studios. Lunch is not provided. Dancers 13 and under Please be prepared to pack a lunch as no chaperones will be provided at lunchtime. Dancers 14 and up - Please be prepared to pack a lunch or visit one of many delis or restaurants near the studio where class is located. All dancers - There are breaks built into the schedule, so dancers may bring snacks to eat between classes. A large water bottle is highly recommended.

Bollywood Workshop 8/21/16 Sunday 11:00am $50.00 The and the Institute of Bollywood Dance and Film s Founder and JBS Bollywood Artistic Director, Rujuta Vaidya, are joining forces to launch a series of weekend Bollywood workshops. This workshop will offer the joy of Bollywood fusion dance through training in the essentials of Bollywood dance forms, Indian classical, folk, along with contemporary, hip-hop, and South Asian modern. Students will learn to integrate traditional technique of hand gestures, footwork, expression, body movement, and posture into their movement styles so they understand what is necessary to perform for Bollywood film and stage.
