Outdoor Concert ed ryan band tom petty TRIBUTE Saturday, September 22, 7 p.m. In honor of Tom Petty, we begin our concert season with a show that pays tribute performed by one of the library's alltime favorite acts, Ed Ryan Band. The tribute by this exciting and versatile band will be a blend of the prolific songwriter Petty's biggest hits and lesser known gems, all timeless music. Performing Nouveau Flamenco mainly, Arrizza fuses spicy sounds of the Caribbean and Latin-America with the music of Southern Spain, mellowed by a cool New Age flair. peter morrison & friends rodgers & hammerstein TRIBUTE Friday, October 12, 7 p.m. Local musicians Peter Morrison (piano), Gregg Sixt (tenor) and Kathleen Gubitosi (soprano) will do a musical tribute to Rodgers & Hammerstein. With a focus on the timeless stories, the group will perform favorites like "I'm In Love with a Wonderful Guy," "People Will Say We're in Love, and My Favorite Things. buddy merriam & back roads quartet Friday, November 16, 7 p.m. On Friday, November 16 th we will host a community potluck Thanksgiving dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a concert at 7 p.m. This year will feature local bluegrass legends, Buddy Merriam & Back Roads Quartet. With an incredibly impressive résumé, Buddy has performed for more than 30 years. Buddy and his band Back Roads will play their signature, driving form of traditional bluegrass music, featuring mandolin, fiddle and guitar. His trio s performance will tell the story of his journey through three continents and takes the form of his original songs interspersed with small narrated vignettes about his life growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa and Jerusalem, Israel and finally New York, USA. This year Rhonda will perform a tribute to Stevie Wonder called In the Key of Stevie, which has received rave reviews all over the tristate area. View the band s previous performance at the Library YouTube page. long island composers alliance (L.I.C.A) Friday, April 12, 7 p.m. The Long Island Composers Alliance (LICA) was founded in 1972 by composers Marga Richter & Herbert Deutsch. Since that time LICA has presented over 300 concerts featuring more than 1500 new compositions by more than 100 Long Island based composers. LICA is the only organization devoted to creating, promoting, presenting, recording and preserving the best original, contemporary music by composers living and working on Long Island. LICA musicians will present their original compositions to the South Country community in the classical style featuring instruments that include the piano, violin, cello, guitar and other classical instruments. Although Playing our outdoor concert for the first time, Ahmad has performed at the library many times and is one of our most requested musicians.
