1. Introduction 1.1 The homeit System The homeit system is a centralized access control system, based on an APP and a BOX that communicate through an internet access point - commonly a router - and interact with peripheral equipment - electric lock, intercom and numeric keypad. The homeit system works through the internet, and requires a stable data connection at the installation site. The powering of the system is made with a common 220V power socket. The current is injected by a PoE transformer (Power over Ethernet), which allows you to carry electricity along with the data through a single network cable. homeit.io All rights reserved. 2

2. Equipment and materials 2.1 The homeit KIT The homeit KIT contains a homeit BOX and several peripherals, described in the following list. 3. Location of the homeit BOX The homeit system is a flexible system that offers various options for equipment distribution. However, some locations are recommended. Here are some of the most common situations. Based on these installation options, you can find solutions for more specific cases. INSTALL THE BOX BY THE DOOR This is the desirable location in most cases where you want to install the homeit system in an existing door. homeit BOX LOCATION Next to the intercom Next to the top corner of the door. At the side of the lock. CHOOSE THIS OPTION IF: You have a finished door You want a quick solution You have no problem having visible power cables ADVANTAGES: It fits in most cases. No pre-installation required. Installed in about 4 hours. In order to obtain a good finish, you should always use a technical track in situations where cables cross the wall surface. Alternatively, the BOX should remain aligned with the top of the door, no more than 3cm from the trim, to ensure the passing cables are hidden. homeit.io All rights reserved. 7

INSTALLING THE BOX IN A TECHNICAL BOX This location is desirable in situations where the building is still under construction, where it is possible to do an integrated and hidden installation. homeit BOX LOCATION Inside the technical box Inside a technical cabinet Inside a false ceiling CHOOSE THIS OPTION IF: You have the house under construction You want an integrated solution ADVANTAGES: Hidden infrastructure Reserved access to the equipment The complete homeit KIT takes up an area of about 30x25x10 cm. OTHER SITUATIONS There are cases in which the solutions presented above do not apply. In these situations, it is necessary to carry out an on-the-spot assessment and to always decide based on the principles of good installation practices. PRINCIPLES TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT Always look for the most economical solution. The closer the BOX is to the door, the better. Check the cable path before starting. Find paths that make the job easier. Always install the most protected and discreet path. Respect the limits! Certain cases require preparation that is beyond the skills of a homeit installer. Make sure the site meets the necessary conditions before you begin. homeit.io All rights reserved. 8

4. Connections 4.1 Cable Management Cables are an essential element of the homeit system, they are responsible for the communication with the peripherals and ensure reliability in connection to the homeit network. Before starting the installation decide where all the cables will go. 1 homeit BOX - 2 IPoE injector - 3 Lock or electric device - 4 Intercom - 5 Keypad - 6 Internet access point/router - 7 Power supply 2 Two-wire cable - 10 Ten-core cable - UTP Network cable (UTP) OPTIONS FOR CABLE MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDED ACCEPTABLE NOT RECOMMENDED Behind the door jamb Facing double doors Along the skirting Along the door jamb Inside hollow interior spaces Along the ceiling baseboard Over the door jamb In the middle of the walls On the door face The data connection involves the wiring of a network cable (UTP) to the nearest router, where ideally the power supply should be located. In order to achieve a more discreet installation, the cables must be installed in a distributed way, avoiding the accumulation or, if this is not possible, the overlapping with the thinner cables underneath. homeit.io All rights reserved. 9

4.2 Connecting the peripherals CONNECTION TO THE ELECTRICAL LOCK 1. Connect the cable directly to the electrical terminals of the lock, with the help of a screwdriver, as shown below. Always make sure that you have enough cable to reach the homeit BOX. If necessary, make an extension of the two-wire cable with the help of electrical connectors of your choice. CONNECTION TO THE INTERCOM 2. Open the intercom with the help of an appropriate screwdriver. 3. Locate the bell and open street door button terminals, and connect the 2-wire electrical wires that connect to homeit BOX. The intercom has its own power supply. It does not give electric shocks, but it can cause short circuits and sparks, and even open the street door. AVOID CONTACT BETWEEN CABLES. homeit.io All rights reserved. 10

INTERIOR KEYPAD CONNECTIONS 1. Open the box with the help of a suitable screwdriver by removing the rear screws. 2. Drill the box in the chosen location for the cable exit and fit the cable. 3. Locate the terminals and connect the 10-core cable in the color order shown in the figure on the right. 4. Manually make connections to the LED in the order shown in the picture on the right. Protect each connection with insulation tape. 5. Close the box with the screws. Secure the keypad t o the wall with screws and wall plugs or glue. EXTERNAL KEYPAD CONNECTIONS 1. Drill holes into the wall or door to pass the cables and for the keypad fixing points. 2. Pass the cable through and insert the tips into the base terminal, in the order shown in the image on the right. 3. Connect the plug to the keypad connector with the correct orientation. 4. Attach the keypad to the wall or door. If you prefer, you can attach the keypad to the exterior wall of the building overlapping it with a wall-mounted wall bo x to protect the connections. homeit.io All rights reserved. 11

4.3 Connecting the homeit BOX Make ALL THE CONNECTIONS with the power supply circuit OFF. Go over ALL THE WIRING before reconnecting to the power supply. SWITCHED ON CABLES WILL DAMAGE THE CIRCUIT! CONNECTIONS TO THE homeit BOX 1. Connect the RJ45 plugs to the end of the UTP cable, connecting the cables as shown in the picture at the right. 2. Follow the CIRCUIT MAP shown below to make the necessary connections, according to the specifications of your homeit system. Always check before inserting the plug if the cables are tight. CIRCUIT MAP 2C 2 connectors 10C 10 connectors The indicator lights confirm the connection of the UTP cable and the connection status of the BOX to the homeit network. homeit.io All rights reserved. 12

4.4 Connection to the homeit network ROUTER CONNECTIONS 1. Make sure the router is connected to the power outlet. 2. Make sure the data input cable is connected to the LINE/WAN/INPUT port. 3. Plug the cable connecting the PoE transformer to one of the LAN ports. PoE TRANSFORMER CONNECTIONS 4. Connect the cable from the router to the DATA IN port.. 5. Connect the cable coming from Homeit BOX to the DATA & POWER OUT jack. 6. Connect the PoE transformer to a 220V power outlet. PROTECTION OF CONNECTIONS 7. To ensure that the homeit BOX is not improperly disconnected, place a clamp tie around the power extension and PoE transformer, or behind the power outlet frame. Do the same thing to the router's transformer, and stick a safety sticker provided in the homeit KIT on it. homeit.io All rights reserved. 13
