The 2012 Fall Musical Auditions for: Pippin Music and Lyrics by: Stephen Schwartz Book By: Roger O. Hirson Synopsis: Once upon a time a young prince longed to discover the secret of true happiness and fulfillment. He sought it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and the intrigues of political power. In the end, he found it in the simple pleasure of home and family. AUDITION PROCEDURES PRE- AUDITON VOCAL CLINIC: Thursday, August 23, 2012 Performing Arts Center, 3:40 to no later than 6:00 NO PREPARATION IS NECESSARY- JUST SHOW UP!! Men and women will be taught excerpts from a couple of different songs. You will learn the music in a group, singing through the song several times together. THE AUDITION PROCESS: Please bring your signed audition permission slip and a non- returnable picture of you, (one that looks like you) to the first night of auditions, Monday, August 30, 2010. PRELIMINARY VOICE AUDITIONS: Monday, August 27, 2012 Performing Arts Center, 3:45-5:00 pm (F/S) 5:15 6:30 pm (J/S) Sign up in the time slot for your grade level on the East Bldg. call board (next to the PAC). Sign ups will begin on Thursday, August 16, 2012. You must make arrangements to audition in the correct time slot for your year in school.
If you have an unavoidable conflict or transportation problems, you MUST see Ms. Lynch in Rm. 2204 BEFORE Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 to arrange an alternative audition time, not date. Before we hear individual voices, we will review the music in a large group, singing the excerpts together. Afterword, we will ask you to sing the excerpt, on your own Keep in mind, the song need not be memorized, polished or choreographed- just sung to the best of your ability, in your best voice, with energy and enthusiasm. That s it! NOTE TO PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY CAN T SING OR WHO ONLY WANT TO BE A DANCER, Because Pippin is a musical, everyone on stage will sing as part of a group. So, we need to hear your voice ALONE, even if you think you are not interested in, or qualified for singing solo. Most people can sing much better than they give themselves credit for, so be brave- - you ll do fine! MOVEMENT AUDITIONS: Tuesday, August 28, 2012 Performing Arts Center, 3:40 to approx. 6:15 pm Movement auditions are required of all students who wish to be considered for a role!! No preparation is needed. A basic dance/movement combination will be given to all students. You will practice and present this in groups. A more advanced combination will be given to students based on the results of the first combination. We need to see how each of you moves on stage, and will be choosing featured dancers based on these auditions. Even if you have no dance experience or believe you have no dance ability, you need to attend the movement auditions. Again, ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND BOTH MOVEMENT AND PRELIMINARY VOICE AUDITIONS in order to be considered for a part in Pippin. Please read the play prior to auditions; you ll feel more secure in the choices you make for your audition. Also - please adhere to the overnight checkout policy. If you do not, the library staff will inform me, and it may affect casting decision. (No kidding!) When you audition, remember that you can never be too loud.
