You ll be doing a Webquest, which is like a scavenger hunt of websites. The Task: You will start by accessing Caroyln Meyer s website, to browse for information that answers the following questions. Later you will research information about Princess Elizabeth from our School Library Webpage and explore some fun activities related to the princess. You can work with a partner to complete the italics instructions, for technical/online skills, but you must
complete the bold instructions independently, as they are our Literature Circle skills. The Process: To start, access Internet Explorer from the desktop, click on File > Open, type in the website address: http://www.readcarolyn.com and hit the Enter key. Look at the list of links on the left side of the page, click on the link to get Carolyn Meyer s biography. As you read that page, what are three things that you learn about the author? Click on the link My Books. You ll see other book covers and synopses from the Young Royals series. Read the synopses. As you recall the family tree that we looked at, which of these books do you imagine are about Elizabeth s direct relatives? List the book titles and the relation of the characters to Elizabeth. On the same page, within the My Books link, click on the cover of our book, to take you to a link that shows a list of related books. Look through the book covers and read the synopses to find the one that is about the same Elizabeth in our book. Click on the cover to learn more about the book. You can click on the coloured phrases, below the book cover, to read from inside the book. As you read, what are some of your thoughts about this book?

They are fiction stories, based on true facts and real lives. The author researches the facts and lives of the time period and the historical people. Considering the factual basis of these books, where else might you go to read more about these people and characters? From the results, first choose the site under the title Historic Royal Profiles. Here is a copy of Elizabeth s signature! Read the short biography of her and click on the The Tudors under the Overview list on the left. From there you can download a pdf file to see a more detailed family tree than the one in our book. When you re done reading from this site, click on the Back arrow to return to the original search results. Now choose the site under the title Tudors and Elizabethans. Follow the instructions, look for a picture of Queen Elizabeth I, double click on it and double click on the second, larger picture. You will find 3 fun activities to explore!
