August Local Artist Gallery During the month of August LW Public Library will dust off some of the artwork we have in storage. You'll get a behind the scenes look at our "Basement Art" collection. Many of the pieces were donated by past Local Artist exhibitors. Our Local Artist Gallery is open during regular library hours. Cabinet of Curiosity The Lake Wales Museum has created the Cabinet of Curiosity in the Lake Wales Public Library's main lobby. The Cabinet of Curiosity contains examples of unusual items from the Lake Wales Museum's collection and our local history. New items will frequently rotate into the Cabinet of Curiosity. Be sure to view this unusual collection from the Lake Wales Museum in the Library's main lobby. Touch a Truck - 2018 Thanks to our fellow City of Lake Wales departments and employees. Our final Summer Youth Program was Touch a Truck on July 19, 2018. The Library's west outdoor area was filled with tractors, trucks, fire engines, police cars and motorcycle, backhoes and the Polk Co. Library Cooperative Bookmobile. It was a fun event for kids of all ages. Up close and personal with big, heavy, loud and fun vehicles. What a great summer we had in 2018!

To see all the pictures from this fun day visit the Lake Wales Public Library's Facebook page. The Lake Wales Library Association - Friends of the Library supports the Lake Wales Public Library's programs and so much more. Without their support we would not be able to offer wonderful programs and events, as well as support for our new materials, computers and technology. If you're a member of the LWLA - thank you! We value your support. Memberships, memorial gifts and grants are a vital part of funding for the LWLA. If you'd like to join the Lake Wales Library Association membership levels begin at $10. Email library@cityoflakewales.com for information on becoming a member of the Lake Wales Library Association.
