COMMUNICATIONS MODULES & SUBSYSTEMS WaveReady 10 Gbps Extended-Reach DWDM Tunable Transponder with XFP Client Interface Key Features Tunable in software over the full C-band with stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) suppression Supports transponder or regenerator modes in a single dual-slot module Supports four 10 gigabit rates: OC-192, 10 GigE, 10 GFC, OC-192 over ITU-T G.709 176 km dispersion reach (3000 ps/nm model), +5 dbm 94 km dispersion reach (1600 ps/nm model), +4 dbm Reshapes, Regenerates, and Retimes (3R operation) Remote management and installation turn-up supported by embedded management channel (-200 model only) Pluggable XFP client-side optics ensure easy interfacing with 850, 1310, or 1550 nm equipment Applications Enables reach extension on SONET, Storage Area Network (SAN), Gigabit Ethernet (GigE), and dispersionlimited links Supports wavelength services and Metro optical access overlay Compliance Telcordia NEBS Level 3 GR-253-CORE, Issue 3, Sections 4.1 (Physical Layer Classifications), 5.6.1 (Jitter for Regenerators), and 7 (Other Generic Criteria) UL 60950, First Edition CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 60950 01 FCC Class A CE IEC 60825-2 RoHS compliant (exemptions 7b, 8a) DWDM Reach Extension and Regeneration The WaveReady is a multirate, full C-band tunable, bidirectional transponder that converts short-reach 10 Gbps optical signals to long-reach, single-mode dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical interfaces. Dispersion reach can be as high as 176 km (3000 ps/nm) at +5 dbm output power. Supporting dense wavelength multiplexing schemes, the can expand the useable bandwidth of a single optical fiber to over 400 Gbps. Automatic Rate Detection The automatically detects incoming data rates so that no provisioning is required. The provides a standard line interface for multiple protocols through replaceable 10G small form-factor pluggable (XFP) client-side optics. The XFP supports various protocols and reaches including OC-192/STM64 (SR-1), 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GigE) (10GBaseSR, 10GBaseLR, and 10GBaseER), 10 G Fibre Channel (10 GFC), and synchronous optical network (SONET) over ITU G.709 (10.709 Gbps). The module supports 3R operation at all supported rates. Optical Service Demarcation The also has advanced demarcation capability for carrier services, including remote management, data-rate provisioning, loopback testing, and power monitoring, among others. These functions facilitate fault location and correction and simplify operations required by service management and service level agreements (SLA). AON and Agile Transmission Modules The is a tunable transponder in the JDSU Agile Transmission Modules family, products designed for agile optical networks (AONs). The flexibility of the is critical to the successful and rapid deployment of next-generation, Internet Protocol (IP) based voice, data, and video services, which are driving new network management challenges for communications service providers.
