I could not do this without the help and advice of a lot of you. I won't mention the names because the one I leave out will be the angriest. So far the term is going well and with the show coming up, there are a lot of details prior to "CINEMA SHTICK." The show should be as good as those that have come before because Rod has it under control. All of us are an integral part of the show from staging, to dancing, singing and lines. As always, the show is the thing. Getting butts in the seats and ads for the ad book are important to ensure that the charities get the maximum benefit. Additionally, we need high attendance at the President's Ball and other events. Please tell your friends and anyone else you meet about the show and Paint and Powder. It is important to the success of not only the show, but the Club as well. Please visit our website at paintandpowderclub.org and send it out to everyone you know. Here is wishing you all good health and fundraising. 1 Yours, Jerry Save The Date March 12, 2018 6:00pm Social 7:30pm Meeting Basta Pasta ALL MEMBERS ARE WELCOME March 28, 2018 (Wed.) 7:00pm Auditions for Cinema Shtick! It s all about the show... CINEMA SHTICK, a musical movie revue! T he 2018 Paint and Powder Club s Production, Cinema Shtick is ready for casting. The auditions are scheduled on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at Pickersgill Retirement Community, 615 Chestnut Road in Towson. The audition process will begin at 7:00 PM. When you arrive, please sign-in at the registration table. Everyone auditioning for the produc- Rod Clark tion will receive a numbered audition form. Complete this form and return it to the registration table. This year the Costume Committee will take your measurement as part of the audition process. This procedure will guarantee that the costumes will fit you properly for the performance. Please prepare and bring sheet music. Everyone will be asked to sing 16-32 bars of a song that best shows off the voice. You may be asked to sing one of the songs from the show s score, if your range is in question. A list of songs will be available at the auditions should you wish to audition using one of these numbers. An accompanist will be provided. Everyone should be prepared to learn a light movement combination. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing allowing for easy movement. Dancers should bring tap shoes and character shoes. Please be prepared to learn different style dance combinations to demonstrate dance ability in tap, ballet and jazz. The show dates are May 31 and June 1-2, 2018. Rehearsals will begin on April 2, 2018. Everyone must be available for the two weeks prior to the show. Production week begins May 28, 2018. The final dress rehearsal with a preview audience (cast family members, Boy Scout Troop 730 and retirement community residents) is scheduled on May 31, 2018. We would like to fill all 500 seats at these three performances. Tell everyone you know to start saving their money so that they can see this show. Here are the plans for the show, Cinema Shtick, a musical movie revue Let s Go to The Movies, the opening number, features many movie icons from Star Wars, Gone with the Wind, Tarzan, the Marx Brothers, Grease, the silent movie era of the early 1900 s and those shoot em up western cowboy movies. The production numbers include: 1. A tribute to the animated movies and the Disney Princesses and other recent animated films, 2. Those gangster movies from the prohibition era, 3. A brief glance at the Film Noir, a cinematic term used primarily to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas, 4. Selections from the golden age of movie musicals from the 1950 s and the Rock Musicals of a more recent era, 5. And, finally, a swashbuckling movies bit and a fitting tribute to those movies filmed in exotic locations. Let s Have Another! 3
