1THE CITY OF FILM R ome, one of the world s most beautiful capitals, the city with the highest concentration of cultural heritage on the planet, is also home to another city. A city whose name is known all over the world, and is one of the most used and universal Italian words, on a par with Opera, Ferrari, and Chianti. The word Cinecittà cannot be translated, and wherever you are it means the same thing: Cinema. Cinecittà is not only a legendary name. To this day, it is one of the leading players in the European film industry involved in the complete production of films, documentaries, tv series, commercials and music videos. From pre to post, from special effects to distribution and promotion, Luce Cinecittà is a one stop shop for any audiovisual project, from idea to movie! The studios are located just outside the centre of Rome, covering an area of over 100 acres. Their strategic location, just 30 minutes drive from the airport and 20 minutes by subway from Rome s central station, makes them extremely easy to reach. Their central location, together with the plus that they can host the entire creative and production cycle for an audiovisual production, has made Luce Cinecittà studios the ideal location for the production of several multiaward-winning films, such as The Postman, Life is Beautiful, Ocean s Twelve, To Rome With Love, Mission: Impossible - 3, Angels and Demons, Ben Hur, and Gangs of New York.

2ALL THE ADVANTAGES OF TAX CREDITS Tax Credits for 30%, equal to 20 million a year per company T he new Film Law has strengthened the Tax Credit mechanism. Executive production and post-production companies can now get tax credits for 30% of 75% of costs incurred in Italy, for a maximum annual tax credit of 20 million per company.

The new Tax Credit rules also introduce new categories of beneficiaries (e.g. video game production companies and film exhibitors) and credit rates of over 30% for certain categories (e.g. independent producers that distribute their own films).

3FILM PRODUCTION FACILITIES Sound stages Luce Cinecittà currently has 19 permanent sound stages for audiovisual productions, with a wide array of shapes and size, all soundproof, air conditioned and with powerful and safe energy systems, overhead grids, walkways and waterproof trapdoors to accommodate all kinds of stage effects. The different size sound stages mean the studios can satisfy the needs of not only big film productions, but television and commercial productions, as well. Renting one of the sound stages comes with added services: they all come with a series of adjacent spaces comprising a total of 300 dressing rooms and offices, 21 make-up studios, and 82 prop rooms, storage rooms and art department workshops. These spaces give productions the ideal logistical base for organizing staff. No matter what your production s needs are, we at Luce Cinecittà studios can satisfy them. Furthermore, there are local independent companies nearby that hire out technical equipment (e.g. Panalight) and provide special digital and mechanical effects services (e.g. Makinarium).

Sound stages under construction To meet the growing demand for new and bigger audiovisual production facilities, Luce Cinecittà is developing two state-of-the-art sound stages each measuring over 34,000ft 2 which will increase the total space available for production to 280,000 ft 2 Luce Cinecittà is also rebuilding its historic 9,000ft 2 Sound Stage 7, which is supposed to host a tank for underwater filming. Swimming pool Tucked away in the middle of Cinecittà s park is an outdoor swimming pool that can be used for filming. It is 75,000ft 2, 7ft deep, can hold 45,000ft 3 of water. It sits in front of a green backdrop measuring 260ft in width and 65ft in height. Here you can dress sets and film underwater.

4SET CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT L uce Cinecittà s world-famous set construction department creates extraordinary sets at competitive prices. Some of our most famous works include the fantastical sets from Baron Munchausen, the 1930s New York set from Once Upon a Time in America and the mid-19 th - century set of Gangs of New York, the German U-boat in U-571, the days of the Roman Republic recreated for HBO s Rome, and the set of Jerusalem for Mel Gibson s The Passion of the Christ. Some of these sets have earned themselves a permanent place at the studios, like Ancient Rome and 15 th - century Florence, which are often redressed and used for new film productions. 6THE FIRST ALL-FILM STREET currently scattered around the area surrounding Cinecittà, set designers, costume designers, and lighting and special effects technicians will soon have a new space all for themselves. The 22,000ft 2 area will be divided into refurbished spaces equipped for various activities. These new spaces will make it possible to have all the workshops on a single Street of Master Artisans.
