First Grade Summer Reading 2017 Summer is no time to stop reading! Reading for just a few minutes every day can maintain the skills learned at school to be ready for the next grade level. But summer is a time for fun and relaxation too! So, we offer a fun way to complete the summer reading assignment for first grade. Each student will need to complete both calendars and the Bingo sheet. 1) Calendars- During July and August read for pleasure and check off the calendar each day when you read for 20 minutes or more. Count everything you read including books, magazines, cereal boxes, menus, etc Students may need their parents help to complete this assignment and to read aloud to their children. You need to have 40 boxes checked off! Calendars are attached. 2) BINGO Board- Attached, you will find a Summer Reading Bingo Board. The board is filled with different ideas to fill those warm summer days! You need to complete one row. Will you go up and down? Across or diagonal? Can you fill in more than one row? Can you fill in the whole board? Color in each box with a yellow or orange crayon when you complete it. Be creative with your reading, writing, drawing, painting, and even cooking! Both the BINGO board and the Calendars are due on the first day of school. Make sure you have plenty of good books! Take some to the beach, park, etc Have your parents take a picture of you reading and email to Mrs. Stukas, kstukas8656@olhamptons.org
