Peoria Ave., Peoria Theater Works celebrates its 30 th Season with an elegant evening of cuisine while showcasing some of its remarkable theater performances. As the Managing Tenant of the Peoria Center for the Arts, Theater Works produces full seasons of theater (MasterWorks), youth theater (YouthWorks), puppet theater (PuppetWorks), educational camps, workshops, internships, and youth performances troupes (Stardust, Kids Alive!, and YouthWorks Academy). Theater Works also presents a diverse range of performances by groups based in and touring to our community. Programming ranges from nationally-known musicians and comedians, through regionally significant culturally-specific theater and dance troupes, to locally-based community events for the more than 130,000 people who walk through the doors each year. Your support helps us continue community outreach and education programs like: YOUTH WORKS YouthWorks is an extention of Theater Works' theater company that showcases productions for youth performed by young actors between the ages of 5 and 19. Each season typically presents four fully produced productions comprised of both plays and musicals for family audiences YOUTH WORKS ACADEMY The mission of Youth Works Academy is to partner with schools, homeschools, and children in the Greater Phoenix area to provide exciting and enriching learning experiences through outstanding performing arts education. Students ages 3 to 18 are instructed by local and national professional teaching artists in the various disciplines of performing arts including: voice, acting, improvisation, dance, puppetry, creative drama, and more. The 24-week Youth Works Academy classes take place in the Fall and Spring. The program teaches life-skills, broadens horizons and focuses on building confidence through individual and group achievements. Classes adaptive students and Summer intensives are also offered. PUPPET WORKS Puppet Works is an arm of Theater Works which presents three productions performed with hand-crafted puppets each season. This year, productions are performed entirely in black-light, creating a glow-in-the-dark effect where puppets, scenery and even the audience glow. Performances are geared towards Preschool-aged children but are enjoyed by all. Each 40-minute performance is preceded with a creative project and followed by a puppet tutorial. STAR DUST Stardust is Theater Works advanced training program for performers ages thirteen to nineteen, who travel throughout the valley, entertaining audiences through song and choreography. The troupe performs various genres of music, ranging from a cappella to pop during community events, festivals, retirement communities, schools and other events. KIDS ALIVE! Kids Alive (KA) is the youth musical theater training program at Theater Works. This company of young entertainers perform at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts and other venues in the community. KA Teaches a wide variety of disciplines including acting, voice, movement, stage presence and community participation. This program is open to students ages 6-13 at all levels. COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS Theater Works partners with many organizations around the Valley to provide community outreach programs. Theater Works has collaborated with One Step Beyond, a social service agency for the developmentally challenged and Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development, a center for kids aged 12-18 that are homeless or experiencing a transitional housing situation on a musical theater program. Theater Works has also worked alongside Benevilla, a West Valley Senior Care center, to develop a puppetry program for their residents with stages of dementia.
