Audition information Audition details: Date: 30 th and 31 st January 2017 by appointment, scheduled from 10am and 6pm respectively Call-backs (if required) will be on 6 th February 2017 Venue: Pymble Players Inc Theatre, Cnr Mona Vale Road and Bromley Avenue Pymble NOTE: Auditions will be closed and by appointment only. Auditionees will be asked to read pieces from the script, and discuss their view of the character. Synopsis A community committee in a small NSW country town meets to plan celebrations for the forthcoming Australia Day. With its assorted stalwarts and politicians, long-time residents and unwitting newcomers, they attempt to create the perfect celebration for this most Australian of days. You will laugh out loud. Roles available: 2 Females, 4 Males Character Description Stage Age Brian Harrigan Robert Wilson Male Mayor of Coriole Shire and aspiring politician who chairs the Australia Day committee Male Deputy Mayor and loyal worker on the committee. 45+ 45+ Maree Bucknell Female President of the local CWA and long serving committee member. 55+ Wally Stewart Male Local builder and small scale developer, also a long serving committee member. 55+ Helen McInnes Chester Lee Female Local Greens councillor, relatively new to the area and recently appointed committee member Male of Asian appearance Australian-born Vietnamese primary schoolteacher who has just moved into the area 35+ 25+ DIRECTOR S NOTES: An Australian accent is mandatory for all characters. This is a comedy, so actors with good comic timing are needed. Act1: The committee organises this important event with meetings spanning the 6 month lead up to Australia Day. Act 2: Australia Day: What can go wrong? A satirical look at country living, committees and our National Day and you will recognise these people and these situations. Rehearsal Schedule Draft Venue: Rehearsals will be held Pymble Players Inc Theatre, Cnr Mona Vale Road and Bromley Avenue Pymble. In general, rehearsals will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings, with some Thursday/Tuesday rehearsals also. There can be flexibility in days/dates; happy to consider specific needs of the cast for pre-planned commitments that are advised to the Director before the rehearsal period commences.
