FINAL ROUNDS There will be a final round of competition in these events: Junior Individual Exhibits Junior Group Exhibits Junior Individual Websites Junior Group Websites Junior Individual Documentaries Junior Group Documentaries Senior Individual Documentaries Junior Papers Projects selected for final rounds will be posted online as decisions are made: http://nhdinwi.weebly.com/milwaukee-regional-2017 Documentary students may not have much time from posting until final rounds begin. There are no interviews in final rounds. Junior Individual Documentaries (in Lubar S191), Junior Group Documentaries (in Lubar S171), and Senior Individual Documentaries (in Lubar S263): Open to the public, judging begins at 12:30 pm. If you cannot be there, a teacher can play your documentary for you. Bring two copies of your Process Paper + Bibliography. Junior Individual and Group Exhibits, Junior Group Exhibits, Junior Papers, Junior Individual Websites, and Junior Group Websites: Judging will take place from approximately 12:30 until completed. Students will not be present for the final rounds. AWARDS CEREMONY The awards ceremony will take place in Union Cinema, located on the second floor of the UW- Milwaukee Student Union (map below). Three state finalists and one alternate will be chosen from each project category and division. PROJECTS * JUDGING * VIEWING If your topic involves American Labor History, you may have an additional judge view your project for consideration for the Labor History special award. They might ask a question or two about your project s connection to labor history. PAPERS & WEBSITES: Website and Paper interviews are closed to the public. Only the students being interviewed will be allowed in the competition rooms. Please do not enter or exit a room while a presentation is in progress. Doors will open during the interview and set-up times. Photos may be taken only with permission. Documentary students: If your time permits, try to test your documentary. Rooms will be open from 8-8:45 and during the mid-morning break. Only students may test and play their documentaries; tech staff will be available for assistance. Bring your documentary in at least one format (DVD, flash drive, online, saved to the hard drive of a laptop). Do not rely only on a flash drive or YouTube.com. Bring two extra copies of your Process Paper + Bibliography in case your project advances to a final round, where you will play your documentary, without an interview. Performance students: According to NHD rules, once you enter the door to your competition room, you must carry and set-up all your props and then remove them after your interview. Adults can help carry props and costumes through the hallways. You can store props in Union 280; please be aware that this room will not be secured or locked. EXHIBITS: During interviews, only judges and students are allowed in the Wisconsin Room (second floor of Union). A judge or room monitor will call students in. Exhibits will be set-up from 8-8:45. NHD rules require that students must carry their exhibit in from the entrance door of the competition room and then set-up their exhibit without adult help. Exhibit removal is from 2-3:30. Adults can help with exhibit removal. The public may view Exhibits before judging begins at 9:00 and from approximately 11:45-12:30.
