5 Patron Advance Due Reminder Staff Functions->Properties-> Patron Advance Due Reminder

6 Access to Patron Edit 1. Directly from the Circulation Menu 2. Optionally from Loans: a. Patron Lookup b. via function [Patron Edit] Lookup a patron with partial name, Example: BAT,M will find BATES,MARY You can also lookup a patron by telephone number, patron number, bar code number, or additional ID.

7 Patron Edit Notice the [Remove] function. Almost every "edit" window is the vehicle to expunge the record, too. This includes Items, Serials Issues, Profiles, etc.

8 Patron Import If you want to add all of your patrons, then see Circulation FAQs Patron Import: What File Format Do I Use? This describes a file import of patrons. Please verify the data.

9 Create or Add Items to Bibs 1. Best access is via Batch Control after Importing a Bib & after [Update Catalog...] then the (automatic) [Item Creation]: a. Profile b. Manual c. Automatic Otherwise: 2. Cataloging->New Book or A/V Item 3. Circulation->New Book or A/V Item (shown on next slide)

14 New Temporary Item No MARC bib is needed! Typically used for instructor's materials or ILL borrowing.

15 Loan Item After selecting the patron, you are sent to the find FIND.

16 Loan Item: Show Detail

17 Loan Items: Find By - Bar Code is optimized. Bar codes make circulation hands-free. - Item #. If you don t use bar codes then write the item number on the inside cover, or print pocket labels with the item number. - MARC# - Call # - ISBN/ISSN/LCCN - Control#. This is tag 001, often the OCLC number - Title - Author

21 Return Item: Find by Item Number 1. Enter the item number. 2. Select function [Item #] Or, scan the bar code and the rest is automatic. Confirmation window appears since we didn't scan a bar code.

23 Return Item: Overdue 1. Confirmation & Fine Question 2. Resulting Payment

24 Other Returns Return with Override: use with a book drop. Internal Circulation: important for collection development. Conditional Return* Patron Lost Item* Patron Claimed Returned* *are each a variation of Return. *The last three functions on this list use function [Return Item] to restore the items to Available or Non-Circulating, whichever was the original status.

25 Renew Items

26 Holds Clear the date for an indefinite hold. When the item is returned, a notice is sent.

27 Location Class Status Global Editor Use to move a collection from one catalog to another. Also used to change the circulation variables. Only items that match the 3 from variables are changed or removed.

30 Daily Run If you miss days, it will catch up.

35 Automatic Notices by 1. Make sure you have each patron's address. 2. Advance Due Reminder will trigger Courtesy Due [x] At Night enables all messages to go by .

36 Patron Self Loan: Overview For setup instructions see Librarian Resources: Quick Tour: Patron Self Loan Setup Setup is beyond the scope of this class. Patron Self Loan can be run from a browser or from the CyberJ Desktop Client. Either can be setup to run from a desktop icon. The CyberJ Desktop Client starts faster.

38 Patron Self Loan: Patron Login Any combination of patron name, bar code, patron number, patron additional ID, and/or password will login. The patron continues to the standard Loan Item window. Patron is focused on the Find field. Patron cannot access functions [Pay Fines], [Pay Fees], or [Patron Edit]. All blocks apply.
