5 Online Resources Philosophia Antiqua Online Edited by K.A. Algra, F.A.J. de Haas, J. Mansfeld, C.J. Rowe, D.T. Runia, Ch. Wildberg The online collection of Philosophia Antiqua the leading series specializing in books on Ancient Philosophy, covering the entire history of the subject from the Presocratics through Plato, Aristotle and the Stoics to the Neoplatonists of late Antiquity. All volumes in the series have now been digitized and are included in this online collection. This collection contains volume 1 up and until volume 147 (titles published in 2017 are included). The series has recently tended to emphasize areas that once used to be underrepresented in the literature, for example Hellenistic philosophy, the sceptical tradition, Galen and other non- Platonist authors of later Antiquity, but this merely reflects a shifting focus in the field and is not a matter of deliberate policy. The over-riding concern of the series is to promote scholarship of the highest quality and originality, publishing work specifically oriented towards texts (editions, commentaries, translations), but also monographs, including both those that offer new readings of familiar or less familiar texts and those that explore the intersections between ancient and modern topics and approaches. Volumes are published in English, French and German. The series includes edited volumes that show a clear and coherent focus, but does not normally host Festschriften or Memorial volumes. For recent volumes that appear in the print series, see page 28. Volumes 1 to 15 ( Antiquity) are devoted to Greco-Roman antiquity. Volumes I to V ( Classical Tradition) are uniquely concerned with the long and influential aftermath. Ranging in time from the end of the Bronze Age to the dawn of the so-called historical period (12th-6th centuries BC), this compendium presents the first complete survey of the early history of all the cultures along the coasts of the Mediterranean. The volume brings together the knowledge gained from material, textual and pictorial sources in all disciplines working in this field. This lexicon of Renaissance Humanism traces these processes from the career of Petrarch to the period of the Reformation and confessionalization, in 130 comprehensive articles covering topics, personalities and places of importance in the history of the Humanist movement. 12 December 2018 (Approx. 913 pp.) ISBN Price 239 / US$ 339 Handbook of Oriental Studies. In Plutarch s Pragmatic Biographies, Susan Jacobs argues that the Parallel Lives portray historical leaders solving problems familiar to statesmen and generals. By linking victories and defeats to moral character, strategic insights and practical skills, Plutarch provided lessons in effective leadership.

In The Gospel of Thomas and Plato, Ivan Miroshnikov offers the first systematic discussion of the Platonist impact on the Gospel of Thomas, arguing that Platonism is indispensable to making sense of those sayings that have long remained exegetical cruces. It also welcomes commentaries on Byzantine narrative texts, medieval texts in Latin, and books from the Hebrew Bible and early Christian texts, including the New Testament. The commentaries in this series approach the ancient texts with a relatively new but successful and exciting literary method: narratology. In addition to other specialised forms of commentaries such as historical, linguistic and philosophical commentaries, a narratological commentary lays bare the narrative artistry of texts, for instance the way in which a narrator communicates with his narratees, accelerates or slows down the rhythm of narration, represents space, anticipates later developments or inserts flashbacks, focalises events or makes us look at them through the eyes of one of his characters, represents the words spoken by characters, and endows the setting of events with a thematic or symbolic meaning. The commentaries are written in English, but German manuscripts may be included as well. The theoretical apparatus is derived preferably from standard introductions like I.J.F. de Jong, Narratology and Classics: a practical guide, Monika Fludernik, An Introduction to Narratology, or David Herman, Basic Elements of Narrative. 45 Journals Journal of Greek Linguistics Edited by Dag Trygve Truslew Haug, University of Oslo, Brian D. Joseph, The Ohio State University, and Anna Roussou, University of Patras Numen International Review for the History of Religions Managing Editors: Gregory D. Alles and Laura Feldt Polis The Journal for Ancient Greek Political Thought Edited by Kyriakos N. Demetriou, University of Cyprus The Journal of Greek Linguistics (JGL) is an established (double-blind) peer-reviewed international journal dedicated to the descriptive and theoretical study of the Greek language from its roots in Ancient Greek down to present-day dialects and varieties, including those spoken in Asia Minor, Cyprus, Tsakonia, and the Greek diaspora. It aims to offer a focused outlet for publication of first-class research in Greek Linguistics, broadly construed. JGL s goal is not only to reach linguists interested in the Greek language but also to engage the linguistics community and Hellenists more generally. The input to JGL will thus comprise any topic relevant to Greek linguistics, in the broadest sense, but with some preference given to material with wider relevance to specific subfields within linguistics proper. Numen publishes papers representing the most recent scholarship in all areas of the history of religions ranging from antiquity to contemporary history. It covers a diversity of geographical regions and religions of the past as well as of the present. The approach of the journal to the study of religion is strictly nonconfessional. While the emphasis lies on empirical, source-based research, typical contributions also address issues that have a wider historical or comparative significance for the advancement of the discipline. Numen also publishes papers that discuss important theoretical innovations in the study of religion and reflective studies on the history of the discipline. The journal publishes book reviews and review articles to keep professionals in the discipline updated about recent developments. European Science Foundation Ranking A Polis was founded in 1977 to provide a forum for publication to scholars specializing in what was then a neglected sub-field ancient Greek political thought. Over the years Polis evolved into a fullyfledged academic journal that publishes material of interest to those who study ancient Greek political thought broadly understood, whether they do so as classicists, ancient historians, philosophers, or political scientists. Polis also welcomes articles on the reception of ancient political thought in Europe, America, or elsewhere. Since its inception the journal speaks for no particular perspective or methodology and it is devoted to the publication of original papers, even though extensive literature reviews, critiques of contemporary research and review essays are also included. 43 Indexing and Abstracting Scopus; Emerging Sources Citation Index (Web of Science); ERIH PLUS Selection of Abstracting & Indexing: Arts & Humanities Citation Index; Current Contents; Dietrich s Index Philosophicus; Index to the Study of Religion; Philosophers Index Selection of Abstracting & Indexing: Arts and Humanities Citation Index; International Political Science Abstracts; L Année philologique ; Scopus; The Philosopher s Index 2019: Volume 19, in 2 issues ISSN / E-ISSN Institutional Subscription rates Electronic only: EUR 0 / US$ 0 Print only: EUR 254 / US$ 341 Electronic & print: EUR OA / US$ OA Individual Subscription rates Print or Electronic only: EUR 85 / US$ 104 brill.com/jgl 2019: Volume 66, in 6 issues ISSN / E-ISSN Institutional Subscription rates Electronic only: EUR 491 / US$ 599 Print only: EUR 540 / US$ 659 Electronic & print: EUR 589 / US$ 719 Individual Subscription rates Print or Electronic only: EUR 166 / US$ 210 brill.com/nu 2019: Volume 36, in 3 issues ISSN x / E-ISSN Institutional Subscription rates Electronic only: EUR 325 / US$ 397 Print only: EUR 358 / US$ 437 Electronic & print: EUR 390 / US$ 476 Individual Subscription rates Print or Electronic only: EUR 108 / US$ 132 brill.com/agpt
