T. S. Eliot, in particular, searched for inspiration in ancient texts, beliefs, and practices. In The Waste Land, Eliot uses time-honored writings from various cultures to explore decadence, despair, and spiritual death in contemporary London. Culture and learning are intertwined with one another. Humanity s history was created through the collaboration of diverse cultures. The curricula we teach to our students were created by a variety of cultures working towards a common goal of improving humanity. In our classroom we have students who, bring their own individual approach, talents, and interests to the learning situations (Guild, 2001, p. 1). I believe that as educators, we are responsible to include a variety of opportunities to incorporate culture into our classrooms that address their individual approaches towards their education. The implications as a result, will be one of integration and connections of classroom topics and cultural roots of our students. As Guild (2001) stated, We do not have one best way to teach, just as we do not have one best way to learn (p.4). Everyone is brought up in their own unique way. We bring our experiences into every school day. Teachers and students alike learn and express themselves in different manors. In my district there is a mixing of cultures. We have every social class, a wide 6
