5 May 16, 1933 Mrs. Edith A. Saiwyer, Fryeburg, Maine. Dear Mrs. Sawyer The very attractive book which you spnt for the Maine Author Collection have just arrived. Thank you very much for the books and for the interest which your sending them shows that you have in this library. There is an especial pleasure in receiving books which come, like these, as evidence that the author is proud to be reckoned as a Maine author. I am looking forward to reading both "The Way of Ume! ", and "The Abiding of Ume". It takes some time for state bills to be paid 30 you may not receive payment, for "The Abiding of Ume" for several weeks. Will you let us know if you do not receive payment for it within a reasonable time? I shall be glad to receive the biographical data whenever it is convenient for you to send it and I hope that you can arrange to send a photograph, also. This, and your correspondence will all be kept in the special Maine Author Collection files.

6 We are having a small exhibit at the Federation Field Day at Lewiston this week and I am glad that your books arrived in time to be included in the collection of recent books by Maine writers. There is some uncertainty about having the July - issue of our Bulletin printed but I am working on it, just the same. Lack of space (if it is printed at all) will prevent our having more than a few lines in each item in the Maine Books and Author section but at least it will serve to inform our readers what Maine writers are doing. There is a library in Augusta, the. Lithgow Public Library. I have just telephoned the librarian- about your generous offer and the library will be delighted to receive a copy of "The Way of Ume,w. Will you not continue your past kindness, and inscribe for the Maine Author Collection a copy, sending it to us with a bill? We continue to hope that you will, as you suggested some time ago, send us a picture for our biographical files. Information is gathered assiduously, from every possible source, for this file, but we never feel that it is complete on any of our Maine authors until we have a picture.
