2 () All Teams Tween Idol WHEN YOU FEEL DOWN AND OUT, IT'LL MAKE YOUR DAY HERE'S A TIME TO SHOUT, IT'LL MAKE A WAY SOMETIMES IT'S HARD TO CARE, IT'LL MAKE YOUR DAY A SMILE SO HARD TO BEAR, IT'LL MAKE A WAY BRING YOUR HEART TO BELIEVING, IT'LL MAKE YOUR DAY LIFE AIN'T ABOUT NO RETRIEVING, IT'LL MAKE A WAY GIVE YOURSELF WHAT YOU NEED, IT'LL MAKE YOUR DAY SMILE, SMILE, SMILE AND BELIEVE, IT'LL MAKE A WAY 1 (Opening number music fades out as campers exit stage and 4 siblings are sitting in their grandparents living room board out of their minds. has headphones in her ears and she is singing to the tune of Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus) I m bored Me too, and I m sick of hearing sing that song. Sorry for singing a very catchy, good song. Well we re going to be here at Grandma and Grandpa s house for week so we might as well make the best of it. That s going to be impossible! We have no internet, so how can we possibly entertain ourselves? Yeah, how are we supposed to have fun? Play outside? Hey, maybe we could write a good catchy song together. And when we do get back into the real world with internet we can put it on youtube and become famous! And how are we supposed to do that? I can t even plug in my ipod anywhere. Well what s this (going over to an old record player) it looks like it can play music? That looks ancient, gosh Grandma and Grandpa are old! 2

3 Wow! Those are really large CD s. Rock and Roll music, if you like it, if you feel it, you can t help but move to it. That s what happens to me. I can t help it. Those aren t CD s they re records and you put them on the record player. You should look that up on the World Wide Web! This is awesome! Let s listen to some of these old records and get ideas on how to make a hit song. (He starts putting the record on the player) Boring (yawn) I think I will take a nap instead. This one says The King who s the king? (Elvis appears with the Blue Team as backup singers and adoring fans screaming his name) Thank you, thank you very much! (Shocked and can t believe his eyes) Ok, I think the nap can wait. Wow! It s Elvis Presley, the man, the myth, the legend. Uh Mr. Elvis you have so many fans (all fans scream, one or two even faint) and you became so famous, how did you do it with your music? Music should be something that makes you gotta move, inside or outside. You mean emotionally and physically? Uh- huh (JAIL HOUSE ROCK) Blue Team THE WARDEN THREW A PARTY IN THE COUNTY JAIL. THE PRISON BAND WAS THERE AND THEY BEGAN TO WAIL. THE BAND WAS JUMPIN' AND THE JOINT BEGAN TO SWING. YOU SHOULD'VE HEARD THOSE KNOCKED OUT JAILBIRDS SING. LET'S ROCK, EVERYBODY, LET'S ROCK. EVERYBODY IN THE WHOLE CELL BLOCK WAS DANCIN' TO THE JAILHOUSE ROCK. SPIDER MURPHY PLAYED THE TENOR SAXOPHONE, LITTLE WAS BLOWIN' ON THE SLIDE TROMBONE. THE DRUMMER BOY FROM ILLINOIS WENT CRASH, BOOM, BANG, THE WHOLE RHYTHM SECTION WAS THE PURPLE GANG. LET'S ROCK, EVERYBODY, LET'S ROCK. EVERYBODY IN THE WHOLE CELL BLOCK WAS DANCIN' TO THE JAILHOUSE ROCK. NUMBER FORTY-SEVEN SAID TO NUMBER THREE: "YOU'RE THE CUTEST JAILBIRD I EVER DID SEE. I SURE WOULD BE DELIGHTED WITH YOUR COMPANY, COME ON AND DO THE JAILHOUSE ROCK WITH ME." LET'S ROCK, EVERYBODY, LET'S ROCK. EVERYBODY IN THE WHOLE CELL BLOCK WAS DANCIN' TO THE JAILHOUSE ROCK. (after the song ends and fans exit stage in cloud of smoke) (never stops singing, is now in his own world and hasn t realize the record has finished playing) Dancing to the Jail House Rock, Dancing to the Jail House Rock (suddenly realizes everyone is staring at him and slowly comes to) Now that was cool. Elvis is awwwwwwwsome! He was idolized by so many people. Who else has affected the music industry as much as Elvis did? I don t get what you mean? 3 4

4 Take a look at this record, Michael Jackson s Thriller. It says it s was the best selling album of all time. Give me that it can t be right. Justin Bieber is way more famous than Michael Jackson.duh. (reads facts on record) This album won a record-breaking eight Grammy Awards.. Yeah and how many Grammy s has Justin Bieber won.that s what I thought, you can t compete with the King of Pop. Come on, let s put it on and listen to it. I m ready to dance some more! (The record get s played and who appear.the King of Pop himself of course) ABC.its easy as.123! MICHAEL JACKSON Michael, I know you were gifted as a young child but how did you get to be so talented? MICHAEL JACKSON I ve always said the greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work. So watch and learn! (THRILLER) Red Team RED TEAM IT'S CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT AND SOMETHING EVIL'S LURKING IN THE DARK UNDER THE MOONLIGHT, YOU SEE A SIGHT THAT ALMOST STOPS YOUR HEART YOU TRY TO SCREAM BUT TERROR TAKES THE SOUND BEFORE YOU MAKE IT YOU START TO FREEZE AS HORROR LOOKS YOU RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES YOU'RE PARALYZED YOU'RE FIGHTING FOR YOUR LIFE INSIDE A KILLER, THRILLER TONIGHT YOU HEAR THE DOOR SLAM AND REALIZE THERE'S NOWHERE LEFT TO RUN YOU FEEL THE COLD HAND AND WONDER IF YOU'LL EVER SEE THE SUN YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES AND HOPE THAT THIS IS JUST IMAGINATION, GIRL! BUT ALL THE WHILE YOU HEAR THE CREATURE CREEPING UP BEHIND YOU'RE OUT OF TIME 'CAUSE THIS IS THRILLER, THRILLER NIGHT AND NO ONE'S GONNA SAVE YOU FROM THE BEAST ABOUT STRIKE YOU KNOW IT'S THRILLER, THRILLER NIGHT YOU'RE FIGHTING FOR YOUR LIFE INSIDE A KILLER, THRILLER TONIGHT (after the song ends Michael and Red team exit the stage in a cloud of smoke) This has been very interesting going through old records, but what music today is as big as Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson? Well according to the facts that I ve read, the American Country Pop Princess is the top-selling digital artist in music history. With over 24.3 million tracks sold its Miss Taylor Swift. I love her, she is sooooo pretty. (suddenly out of nowhere Taylor Swift appears with her guitar) Hi ya ll, I m so glad you are learning about music and what it takes to write a really good catchy song. Wow, you really are pretty. Why thank you. Now let me tell you what I have learned about being successful it s People. 'CAUSE THIS IS THRILLER, THRILLER NIGHT AND NO ONE'S GONNA SAVE YOU FROM THE BEAST ABOUT STRIKE YOU KNOW IT'S THRILLER, THRILLER NIGHT 5 People?,,, 6

5 It s all about loving people. My manager once told me. SWIFTS MANAGER Green Team If you want to sell 500,000 records, then go out there and meet 500,000 people! It s about the people you meet, and the love you show to others. Then you can do anything like sing Our Song! (OUR SONG) Green Team I WAS RIDING SHOTGUN WITH MY HAIR UNDONE IN THE FRONT SEAT OF HIS CAR HE'S GOT A ONE-HAND FEEL ON THE STEERING WHEEL THE OTHER ON MY HEART I LOOK AROUND, TURN THE RADIO DOWN HE SAYS,?BABY IS SOMETHING WRONG?? I SAY, NOTHING I WAS JUST THINKING HOW WE DON'T HAVE A SONG? AND HE SAYS OUR SONG IS THE SLAMMING SCREEN DOOR SNEAKIN' OUT LATE, TAPPING ON YOUR WINDOW WHEN WE'RE ON THE PHONE AND YOU TALK REAL SLOW 'CAUSE IT'S LATE AND YOUR MAMA DON'T KNOW OUR SONG IS THE WAY YOU LAUGH THE FIRST DATE MAN, I DIDN'T KISS HER AND I SHOULD HAVE AND WHEN I GOT HOME, 'FORE I SAID AMEN ASKING GOD IF HE COULD PLAY IT AGAIN I WAS WALKING UP THE FRONT PORCH STEPS AFTER EVERYTHING THAT DAY HAD GONE ALL WRONG OR BEEN TRAMPLED ON AND LOST AND THROWN AWAY GOT TO THE HALLWAY, WELL, ON MY WAY TO MY LOVIN' BED I ALMOST DIDN'T NOTICE ALL THE ROSES AND THE NOTE THAT SAID OUR SONG IS THE SLAMMING SCREEN DOOR SNEAKIN' OUT LATE, TAPPING ON YOUR WINDOW WHEN WE'RE ON THE PHONE AND YOU TALK REAL SLOW 'CAUSE IT'S LATE AND YOUR MAMA DON'T KNOW 7 OUR SONG IS THE WAY YOU LAUGH THE FIRST DATE MAN, I DIDN'T KISS HER AND I SHOULD HAVE AND WHEN I GOT HOME, 'FORE I SAID AMEN Asking God if He could play it again (after song ends Taylor and Green team exit the stage in a cloud of smoke) Well I think we now know what it takes to be the next American Idol Feel the music so it makes you move! Surround yourself with people who are masters in their craft. And don t make it about yourself, instead love people and they will love you back!, what was that very good catchy song you where singing? (PARTY IN THE USA) All Teams SO I PUT MY HANDS UP, THEY'RE PLAYIN' MY SONG THE BUTTERFLIES FLY AWAY I'M NODDIN' MY HEAD LIKE "YEAH!" MOVIN' MY HIPS LIKE "YEAH!" GOT MY HANDS UP, THEY'RE PLAYIN' MY SONG AND NOW I'M GONNA BE OKAY YEAH! IT'S A PARTY IN THE USA! YEAH! IT'S A PARTY IN THE USA! The End 8
