2 About the Series These programs are edited versions from the popular live, interactive PROJECT DISCOVERY series. Each of the condensed programs were hosted by students and feature the best on-site segments from the PROJECT DISCOVERY program. Explore the best on-site visual and performing arts segments from the popular live, interactive program series, PROJECT DISCOVERY. South Carolina Standards Colonial Williamsburg Part 1 & Part 2 Topics include (Part 1) all components of Colonial Williamsburg Electronic Field Trip production from script writing, set location, historical interpretation, student/actor interaction, historical costumes, filming, and production/filming roles and specifics (Part 2)-archeology, curators, historical building techniques, historical trades, historical interpretation, costume research, development, and design Media Arts - GRADE 3 History and Culture Standard 5: The student will understand the context and history of the development of the media arts from the late nineteenth century to present and will recognize the role of media artwork in world cultures.

3 MA3-5.1 Describe ways that media artwork from past and present culture has influenced human knowledge and experience. MA3-5.2 View and discuss media artwork that portrays the people and cultures of South Carolina. MA3-5.3 Describe characteristics of the media arts that exist among diverse cultural and ethnic groups. Media Arts - GRADE 8 History and Culture Standard 5: The student will understand the context and history of the development of the media arts from the late nineteenth century to present and will recognize the role of media artwork in world cultures. MA8-5.1 Analyze ways that information from past and present culture has influenced the evolution of the media arts. MA8-5.2 Compare and contrast media artwork that portrays the people and cultures of the world and those of South Carolina. MA8-5.3 Analyze and describe characteristics of the media arts that exist across time and among diverse cultural and ethnic groups.

4 Theatre Arts - GRADE 4 Making Connections Standard 6: The student will make connections between theatre and other arts disciplines, other content areas, and the world. T4-6.1 Demonstrate the understanding that theatre incorporates all arts areas. T4-6.2 Demonstrate ways that theatre skills can impact and enrich other disciplines. T4-6.3 Incorporate elements of other arts areas to enhance his or her classroom theatre presentations. T4-6.4 Use various theatrical conventions (for example, puppets, masks, props) in dramatic activities. T4-6.5 Act out career and social roles. T4-6.6 Explore theatre careers by using print and non-print sources.

T4-8.1 Participate in theatre activities relating to a variety of historical periods, cultures, and traditions. T4-8.2 Experience a variety of live and recorded theatre productions. T4-8.3 Examine the origins of theatre in world culture. T4-8.4 Examine ways that live and recorded theatre influences personal and community life. Theatre Arts - GRADE 5 Making Connections Standard 6: The student will make connections between theatre and other arts disciplines, other content areas, and the world. T7-8.1 Identify theatrical practices in a variety of historical periods and cultures and recognize them in contemporary informal and formal productions.

7 T7-8.2 Analyze the historical and cultural contexts of improvisations and published plays. T7-8.3 Recognize ways that live and recorded theatre relates to real life. Medieval Times, Part 1 and Part 2 Topics include Spain, Dark Ages Jousting, Kingdoms, Chivalry, Knights, Squire, Page, Wench, Serf World History - Grade 6 Standard 6-5: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the Middle Ages and the emergence of nation-states in Europe Explain feudalism and its relationship to the development of European monarchies and nation-states, including feudal relationships, the daily lives of peasants and serfs, and the economy under the manorial system.

Hoffman, Tchaikovsky, Costumes, Sets, Production, Music, Special Effects, Chroeography Dance - GRADE 3 Choreography Standard 2: The student will implement choreographic principles, processes, and structures. D3-2.7 Analyze and describe the choreographic tools used in major dance works and in those of his or her peers. Theatre Arts - GRADE 6 Designing and Technical Theatre Standard 3: The student will design a variety of technical elements for the theatre. T6-3.1 Identify and recognize the functions and interrelated nature of scenery, props, lighting, sound, costumes, and makeup in creating an environment appropriate for scripted and nonscripted theatre.
