It s horrible in the rush hour when thousands of people are going to work. I also hate the weather. London isn t very nice between November and March. It s cold and it rains a lot! 16
8 Comprehension 3 Answer the questions. Famous attractions The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are two of the most famous attractions in London. The British government meets in the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben is the name of the bell in the famous clock tower next to it. There are nine royal parks in the centre of London. The largest is Hyde Park. People can go walking, jogging, skateboarding, rollerblading and horse-riding in the park. In summer they can go boating on the Serpentine, a lake in the middle of the park. Tower Bridge is over 100 years old. It is close to the famous Tower of London. On special occasions you can see the bridge open to let a tall ship sail through. The London Eye on the River Thames is an enormous wheel with 32 glass viewing pods. The London Underground (or tube ) is the world s oldest and biggest metro system. It has got 260 stations. More than 2.5 million people travel on the underground every day. Rush hour. The average speed of traffic on central London roads during rush hour is 10km an hour.
