3 Your witty mind and humorous personality always brightened the mood. I looked forward to seeing you everyday; things certainly aren t the same now that you re gone, but I know you are looking over me, and one day we will see each other again. This is for you, my true friend, Patrick. - Autumn Christian Autumn Christian You may be gone now, but I know it s not the end. I miss seeing you everyday - you made a great friend. It s tough seeing someone like you go. I remember you like yesterday. Your comedy and unforgettable smile made bad feelings stray. If I could tell you just one thing now, it would be this - You changed my life and taught me a lot and seeing you is what I miss. But again, it s not the end, for one day we will start over. Carefully dripping its embers to the russet ground beneath a ruddy sunset. The tree exposed and bare stands surrounded by heaps of its once fiery trappings. Awaiting, so patiently, to begin again. 2

5 Devin Lentz In Time, sometimes a face can lose its glow, In Time, sometimes one s fate can take a turn, And though, sometimes, In Time life can turn low, In Time, there s still a Chance for one to Learn. 6 Anonymous A woman stands outside a smoking car in a forest not too far outside of town, but long past midnight. She swears at it, glaring as if somehow that will make the engine work again. She has no such luck. The road she has pulled to the side of should only be around a mile, maybe two from town, but night has descended quickly on the forest road and with it a thick fog as if the clouds had fallen too, as if the sky is pressing down onto the earth. Rickey Howard Photography Giving the car one final glare she grabs her purse and locks the car before heading down the road, hopefully towards civilization. She walks for no less than twenty minutes, but in the ever darkening night it feels as if every step is a year. The fog seeps into her bones, making her shiver. If there ever was a setting for horror it was this, she thinks, mildly afraid. Her phone left at home, a simple mistake any other time. Now it is truly unfortunate. "I refuse to be the first five minutes of a horror movie." she mutters under her breath. After a moment of searching she pulls a flashlight out of her purse. "I refuse." Once the light blinks on it makes her feel better, but it doesn t go far in the gloom. The sky seems to be swallowing the forest around her, herself collateral. She continues walking though, more determined than afraid. The road eventually leads to town, so there's no point in giving up now. Her feet keep moving and she stops thinking about anything except for the darkness around her. Somewhere behind her an owl screeches, sounding nothing like the classical hoo that children s shows promised. Other forest noises- fluttering wings briefly, the sound of a mouse scrambling through the under brush, branches creaking in a gentle breeze- fill the night. It is comforting really, that the darkness is no different really. Well aside from the owl. That is a terrifying noise. She doesn t go much farther before she sees it. It's light glowing and penetrating the thick fog loudly declaring its presence. She falls to her knees in joy. "Oh thank God" she sighs, looking up at the McDonald's sign with joy. She scrambles back up to go inside, thanking God again that the door is open. She turns to the person behind the counter with a smile, still rejoicing her luck. "Hey, I'm sorry to bother you but would you have a phone I could borrow? My car broke down a bit up the road and-" She s cut off by the person turning to face her, well perhaps face is the wrong word. Where eyes and a nose and lips should be was instead a twisting mess tentacles, like some eldritch horror come to life. Her scream is loud enough to make the person wince as she ran from the store. 4 "Well that's just rude." He huffed, turning back to phone. Midnight shift is so boring. Only ever seemed to be dumb humans and their racial prejudices.

7 Everyone has a story. What s yours? I am smarter than I look. I am young with many worries. Don t blame me - I can t vote. I just really want to sleep. Blessing of intelligence, curse of loneliness. Family so much more than biology. Eliminate what doesn t help you evolve. Born to nap, live for dogs. Sounded much better in my head She got the best of me. Be a voice, not an echo. For you, I d steal the stars. What would happen if he stayed? I love sleep more than people. My sister preyed on my downfall. Are you going to eat that? Love - more important than everything else. Try and fail, so try again. Value family and friendships It ll help. I came to win to conquer. Blood s thicker than water? Not mine. Bad luck s better than no luck. I know what, but not how. My anxiety does not define me. Says she can t, but she can. Keep going. You are getting there. I am the SUPREME MEME LORD. You call crazy, I call genius. We re just young, dumb, and broke. More drama than the Kardashian family. The storm within me rages on. Harambe s the glue of our nation.
