Reading comprehension: Read the text and remember the main information The County of Galway: Galway The County of Mayo: Achill Island Billie continues her walk north and after being astonished by the beauty of the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare, she gets to the county of Galway, home of stunning landscapes and a famous international arts festival. If you like visiting historical places as well as enjoying the beautiful landscapes in a sport way, you will love the largest island of Ireland: Achill Island. Famous for its numerous archaeological sites, Achill Island was marked by the construction of numerous megalithic and Roman sites, as well as by the numerous forts. With its unique landscape, it is ideal for a wide range of outdoor activities, from surfing, windsurfing and scuba diving to hill walking, fishing, golf and many more. The Galway International Arts Festival, founded in 1978, is one of Ireland s leading cultural enterprises and has contributed significantly to putting Galway on the map, as both a key cultural centre for the arts and a cultural tourism destination on the Wild Atlantic Way. It now looks forward to playing a central role in the European Capital of Culture 2020 designation awarded to Galway. The festival takes place for two weeks each July. It presents and produces programmes across theatre, music, visual arts, opera, street shows, dance and comedy. Galway is also very famous thanks to songs like Steve Earle's Galway Girl (2000) which was part of PS I Love You (2007) soundtrack and Ed Sheeran's Galway Girl (2017). 10

Fans of History, have a walk to Banba's Crown to admire Fort Dunree and "The Tower", former observation post built by the British admiralty in 180 to defend the Irish coast against a Napoleon's possible French attack. You can also visit two museums and an exhibition of military objects of the region. Former observation posts of the Second World War can be seen there too. At Malin Head you will discover a prosperous nature with many different bird species as well as some of the most spectacular panoramas of Ireland. Through History, the Irish coast has been a strategic place due to its location and its beauty. These are probably the reasons why some of Star Wars Episode VIII scenes were shot at Malin Head. Don't miss Ballyhillin Beach, a unique raised beach system of international scientific significance. It s a reminder of a time, 1,000 years ago, when sea level was up to 100feet higher than today.
