1 Activities- Category II: Onsite Events: Day/Date :Saturday, November 19, 2016 EVENT E: COMIC CAPERS (Digital Comic Strip) Eligibility : Class VI No of Participants : 2 Duration : 1 hour and 30 minutes 1. Students will create a digital comic strip [6 frames/slides] based on characters from the given selection of books. Charlotte s Web by E.B. White Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll Harry Potter & The Philosopher s Stone by J.K. Rowling The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien 2. The comic strip should have a visual representation along with captions/thought bubbles/call outs/dialogue. 3. The situation will be provided to the teams on the spot. 4. Students may use Microsoft Power-point or Paintbrush to create their presentations. a. Relevance to the theme (10 marks) b. Storyline/Content (10marks) c. 2 EVENT F: LES QUIZÉRABLES (Quiz) Eligibility : Class VII & VIII No. of Participants : 2 [One student from each class] Round I: Written Round - The top eight teams will move to the next round. Round II: The top eight teams will face three rounds of questions. The top four teams will move to the Final round. Final Round: The Rapid Fire Round will decide the winner! Teams shall be given the proverb on the spot on which they will prepare a short skit. 2. Teams will be given 30 minutes to prepare before the event begins. 3. Exceeding the time limit shall invite negative marking. Teams will be judged on the following parameters: a. Relevance to the theme (10 Marks) b. Acting skills (10 Marks) c. 4 EVENTH H: INTERPRETATIONS (Performance Poetry) Eligibility : Class IX & X No of Participants : 2 Duration : 3 minutes (on and off stage) 1. One participant will recite a poem on any one of the given themes and the other participant will present an artistic rendition or performance of that poem. a) Nature b) Dreams c) Light 2. The selected poem in English has to relate to the theme and may be selected from any genre or period of literature. 3. Self-composed poems will not be permitted. 4. Of the two participants, one will recite the poem while the other will perform i.e., dance, paint, etc. 5. Props or PowerPoint presentations will not be permitted. 6. Exceeding the time limit shall invite negative marking. Teams will be judged on the following parameters: a. Relevance to the theme (10 marks) b. Voice and articulation (10 marks) c. The participant will present a speech based on the theme: Inclusion 2. The time allotted is 2 ½ minutes. A warning bell will sound after 2 minutes. 3. Self composed speeches will be disqualified. 4. Participants will prepare a dramatic extract from a literary piece. 2. The works of any renowned playwright may be selected. 3. Participants will be dressed as their chosen personality. 4. One prop will be permitted. 5. No background score or PowerPoint presentations will be permitted. 6. There will be a warning bell after 3½ minutes. 7.
