4 A lot of practical lighting was used on the film, and although an assortment of professional lights were on standby, many of them weren't used due to ALEXA's sensitivity. For forest exteriors, shooting took place under trees and out of direct sunlight, so lights including the ARRI 200 W HMI Pocket Par were used to bring up the actors' faces. Mann notes, "For what we were trying to achieve, the ALEXA performed best in situations when it was a little darker, so we often ended up not using lights; the latitude was able to hold the details in the shadows well enough that it wasn't necessary." The director was immediately pleased with the results: "The footage actually looks surprisingly good straight out of the camera," he says. "There are a few images, the ones that are exposed absolutely perfectly, that I would hardly want to touch at all in the color grade; I intend to actually use them as color references for the rest of the piece." Footage was transferred on set to 2GB Glyph drives for editing on a MacBook Pro. Now in the final stages of postproduction, DELICACY will be finished on a Da Vinci 2K system and released for screening at film festivals. Kieron Seth

5 Select Biographies: JASON MANN Director/Writer Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jason Mann is an independent filmmaker based in New York City. Mr. Mann s previous short film On the Revolutions of Heavenly Spheres, made while he was still a student at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, premiered at the Boston Film Festival in 2007 and played at the Palm Springs and Newport Beach film festivals, among others. The film garnered awards for Best Film and Best Director from his University. His prior film, Laocoön, shot on location in Italy, received the university s award for Best Cinematography and was broadcast on the PBS Fine Cut series. Mr. Mann has produced films in Corfu, Greece and Johannesburg, South Africa. He was the director of photography and co-producer for the webseries Bad Dads, starring Michael Cera & Will Hines, distributed by College Humor. He was also the director of photography for the narrative feature The Year of the Gun, shot in Lagos, Nigeria, about Nigeria s political upheaval in the 1980s. He had previously collaborated with the Nigeria born director Seyi Babatope on commercials and music videos, one of which won Video of the Year from MTV Africa in Mr. Mann received a Bachelor s Degree in Film Production from Loyola Marymount University and is currently pursuing an M.F.A. Degree in Film Directing from Columbia University. FRIEDA LUK Writer Frieda Luk is currently pursuing an MFA in Filmmaking at Columbia University in New York.! She has worked as a producer and videographer at SUNTV in Toronto, as a new media specialist for the Liberal Party of Saskatchewan and has coordinated an international short film festival in Paris for the Canadian Cultural Centre. Frieda was born and raised in Canada with degrees from the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto. JESSICA CALDWELL Producer Originally from Orrs Island, Maine, Jessica Caldwell is an independent film producer based in New York City. She graduated from Mt. Ararat High School at 16, Manhattanville College at 19, and was the youngest person admitted to Columbia University's Graduate Film Program at 20. While at Columbia she produced 11 short films on location in Ireland, England, and various locations in the United States. Her first short film production "AWOL" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in Her first feature film production "Electrick Children" premiered at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival and SXSW 2012 among many other festivals. It will have theatrical distribution in the United States and abroad, starting in July She graduated from Columbia University in the spring of She has multiple feature film projects in development.

6 She is a member of the Producer s Guild of America. She is represented by Paradigm Talent Agency. TINA SHAND Co-Producer London born producer Tina Shand began her film career whilst studying for her BA in Film at the University of Exeter, where she graduated with a first class degree. She has since worked as an assistant on several low budget features, including Zero (dir. David Barrouk, exe. producer Nicolas Roeg). Alongside this, she has production managed an array of shorts, which include Gonda (funded by Flamin Film London) and Pickle Back (produced at Partizan). She also location managed an award winning short, Lunch Date (dir. Sasha Collington) that screened at Palm Springs and Aspen Shortsfest Presently Tina is pursuing a Masters Degree in Filmmaking at Goldsmiths, University of London, where to date she has produced Sometimes and Transit, and is currently in preproduction with her ambitious graduation film Veneer. MICHEL DIERICKX Director of Photography Michel Dierickx moved from Belgium to the UK to study the craft of cinematography at the London Film School and is now primarily based in London. After school he moved quickly into commercial productions, which took him all over Europe, Asia, and the Middle-East. He is currently prepping his third and fourth feature films: a road movie in the Emirati desert and a romantic comedy to be filmed in Istanbul. He is also a still photographer with publications in UK and US fashion magazines.
