The stability of the Club s Board is certainly indicative of the actions and policies applied are largely satisfying expectations of members. All Directors are detailed on the Club s Honour Board and on the Club s website. A Whole lot More for Members, Coming Soon To ensure we deliver a great experience, Management have been listening to your valuable feedback and working hard behind the scenes with consultants, focus groups and more to offer you, our valued members the best experience, best service and offer you more than any other Club. You asked, we listened and are happy to announce a new era of rewards for all members will be launching on 1st August Keep your eyes out for full details on this date. Sub Branch A reminder to our members, all eligible Ex-Service or current Service Personnel are invited to join the Sub Branch. Membership is open to any person who served in the Australian Defence Force or any person who served for not less than six months in the regular or reserve force of any country, not an enemy of Australia. In addition, any person who fulfilled their commitment as a National Serviceman is eligible. The Sub Branch provides services and other assistance to its members and meet 7:30pm on the 1st Wednesday of each month. Supper is served at conclusion. All codes of Footy The footy season is under way and so you don t miss any of the action all games are screened live at all 3 Clubs. There are heaps of screens in all Clubs to ensure you don t miss a game, including the extra large screen on the Dais in the Stars Lounge at the RSL. Also a reminder, West Harbour Ruby Union (Sponsored by Club Burwood) provide complimentary tickets to all their home games at Concord Oval. Tickets are limited to 2 per member and are on a first in first served basis, so be quick. Tickets are available from Reception at the RSL and Club Burwood. Sports Clubs As advertised in this magazine all members of Club Burwood are eligible to join one or more of the Club s eight internal sports clubs. You don t need experience as our sports clubs welcome new members and are more than happy to teach you. Come along for social games and even join in on the Annual Club Championships where prizes can be won. Croydon Park Club New promotions will be commencing from June, in brief they include a raffle, membership draw, Aussie Bingo and entertainment. 3 REPORTS & PROMOTIONS Our Anzac Day dawn service was a big success and on behalf of the sub-branch, I would like to thank all those who organised and those who participated in the march and service. I was very pleased to see the large number of young people from our local schools and groups who took part. { SUB REPORT BRANCH PRESIDENT'S } It demonstrates that the spirit of Anzac lives on in the coming generations. I also thank the Club staff and management for the very well attended breakfast which was provided after the service. For the sub-branch, the year is progressing well. Our meetings are well attended and there has been a small but steady number of new members joining. That is really pleasing in what is the centenary year of the foundation of the RSL. Our finances are tight but we are working to achieve a balanced budget, with an income stream derived from a broader approach taken to our investments. GEOFF LAZAR SUB BRANCH PRESIDENT ANZAC DAY YEARS OF THE RETURNED SERVICES LEAGUE The Anzac Day Dawn Service held in collaboration with Burwood RSL Sub Branch, Club Burwood RSL and Burwood Council for the second year was a resounding success with over 2,000 attending the service. The service commemorated those who fought for our freedom and to those who paid the ultimate price. The service also commemorated 100 years of the Returned Services League and celebrated the positive contribution that the organisation has had on the Servicemen and Women who fought in battle. It was heartening to see members of the community come together to remember those who fought for our country. Bowls is a sport that can be played and enjoyed by persons of all ages and fitness levels. It is also a most social game and offers the opportunity to play at a purely social or more competitive level on a regular basis or less frequently if so desired. Truly a flexible pastime and probably the least expensive of all sports to play. You do not need to have played before, as instruction in the fundamentals and more advanced techniques of the game are available. Equipment can also be arranged. Digger s play social bowls on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays and Club and District competitions more frequently.
