3 As transit workers, we spend our work days taking over 8.5 million people where they want to go. I m proud to be able to tell you about a Union program that can help take you where you want to go. In 2002, our Union negotiated for a TWU Local 100-NYCT Training & Upgrading Fund (TUF). Since then, over 15,000 TWU Local 100 Brothers and Sisters have taken advantage of this great opportunity to work towards providing a brighter future for themselves. TUF offers many different classes. We have Defensive Driving courses that can reduce points on your driver s license and possibly earn you big savings in car insurance premiums. We have technical computer classes that will assist you in keeping up with the high-tech environment of transit. We also offer Civil Service test prep classes that assist you in preparing for promotional exams. These are just a few of the classes that are offered on a constant basis. The best part is that most of the classes that are listed in this course catalog are offered free of charge. I know that it is not easy to work a full time job, fulfill personal/family obligations, and go to school all at the same time. We know that it isn t an easy road, but we are here to make the transition as smooth as possible. Let TUF help. We offer a variety of class options, on different days and times in different locations. If you don t see what you need, please call your Fund at We are always looking to set up new classes that will help TWU Local 100 members stay ahead of the curve and remain a viable asset in the Transportation Industry. I look forward to seeing you in class. Hector A. Ramirez Director

4 Mission Statement The TWU Local 100-NYCT Training & Upgrading Fund will offer continuous education and training to the dedicated public transit workers who operate and maintain the largest system in the nation. The Fund will give opportunities for workers to remain highly skilled, thus providing the best possible service and maximizing the value of the public investment in transportation. Nondiscrimination Policy The TUF admits students of any race, color, national, or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, and activities generally accorded or made available to members of the Fund. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, scholarship, and other Fund administered programs.
