INTENTION of the show Halfway between the puppet and the circus arts, Planète relies on both the choreographed language of the puppets and artists body movement.

4 INTENTION of the show Halfway between the puppet and the circus arts, Planète relies on both the choreographed language of the puppets and artists body movement. Here there is fighting, pursuit, outwards and inwards playing, there is climbing on each other and exploring others and oneself. Three atypical beings, who have no voice and obey no law, coexist into three puppeteers that are witnesses and actors of their emotional showdowns. Each of them is in turn angry, fickle, violent and artless. They tear each other apart then gather together again. The puppeteers will have to find their way through order and chaos. STAGE PLAN Along with an uncluttered set and stage design, the triangular and flexible concept of the puppet tables allow the artists to give structure to the space around them, to navigate both order and chaos Three spheres bring some roundness to the show and Earth to mind. Each in turn they are the ally, the enemy of Cyclope, the threat or the way-out. The contrasts and geometrical architecture are reinforced by an adjustable background color screen and a black floor, square-patterned with white markings.

5 ACTING TECHNIQUES On stage, three puppeteers, three bodies, six hands and six feet, dedicated to three articulated table puppets. Here the puppet handling is intimately related to the expression and occupation of space of the bodies, which comes into being thanks to the meeting of two artistic disciplines, the puppet and the circus arts. Some of the circus related techniques, such as the portés and the passings, enhance the quality of the handling. For the sake of precision and rigour, the puppets are frequently handled with six hands. Thus puppets and puppeteers can merge into one sole movement of harmony, one dancing body. MUSICAL UNIVERSE Planète is a wordless performance, served by an original score composed by Eric Ksouri. The score is composed of alternating string quartet pieces and digital sound sampling along with analog multi-effect generators. KW kwatyor is a quartet from Reunion Island. They were called upon to play and record the quartet pieces which are used throughout the performance to illustrate and shift the surroundings of the artists. They also support them through the emotions they experience. From one scene to the next, the score parts played and recorded by Eric Ksouri (keyboard, accordion, audio channels ) allow the location and progression of the action to open upon dreamlike sound landscapes. The score was composed along rehearsals, at the same time the show was written, so it would cling closely to the action, the bodies and the emotions brought by the puppets and the puppeteers.

6 ARTISTIC INTERVENTIONS ERIC KSOURI Composer and musician A musician, a sound designer, Eric Ksouri first trained in the accordion. As a composer and a performer, he enjoys confronting his music to photography, dance, theatre, visual arts and poetics of the body... marking him out for the live arts in the broad sense. He co-directs the Compagnie de la Ravine Rousse along with Céline Bosc. His artistic career follows a path drawn by collaborations with people met along the way. Whoever he meets and whatever he does, the result is always colored differently by each new encounter but still resembles him: poetic, high standard and off the wall. More information on: LE KW KWATYOR Musical interpretation Reunion Island quartet. With Eva Tasmasjian (violin), Marc-André Conry (violin), Kahina Zaïmen (viola) and Niels Hoyrup (cello). The KW Kwatyor make it their mission to reconcile tradition and modernity while preserving live expression. They were called upon by Eric Ksouri to perform parts of the Planète score. HIPPOLYTE Poster design Graphic reporter for the «XXI» magazine, comics author, photographer and illustrator, Hippolyte is also interested in theater. He created in 2009 the shadow puppet graphic world of the Dracula show (Zapoï Company). The Théâtre des Alberts has called upon him to design the Planète poster in which he used the scraperfoil technique. More info on More information on:

Free of didacticism, they offer our audiences reflexive and analytical leads to better understand it. Furthermore, the Théâtre des Alberts company takes great care to enrich its own artistic approach and confront itself to other perspectives by initiating numerous collaborations with people from the outside: directors, stage designers, writers such as Terry Lee (Co. Green Ginger), Fabrizio Montecchi (Teatro Gioco Vita), Colette Garrigan (Co. Akseler), Eric Domenicone (la Soupe Co.), Denis Bonnetier (Co. Zapoï) PARTNERS & SUPPORT The Théâtre des Alberts is benefiting from the support of the Cité des Arts (Saint-Denis, Reunion). The Cité des Arts is a co-producer of the show.
