3 Section e: Public Speaking (3 minutes) Senior High School (Gr 10-12) Section a: Individual Poetry (3 minutes) Section b: Individual Prose (3 minutes) Section c: Solo Dramatisation (3 minutes) Section d: Group Dramatisation : The performance of a short scene with a small cast (10 minutes) Section e: Public Speaking (3 minutes) GENERAL RULES PERTAINING TO CATEGORY 5 (SPEECH AND DRAMA): There are no restrictions on the number of entries per school in the Speech and Drama Category. The same pupil may enter into different sections within the category. All pieces, with the exception of speeches, must be memorised. A copy of all work, with the exception of the speeches, must be handed to the adjudicator upon registration. No prompting from instructors may take place during a performance. Poems and prose from published works must be used for the Individual Poetry, Individual Prose, Choral Verse and Solo Dramatisation Sections. Within the Solo Dramatisation Section scripts may be edited and pieced together to create a suitable solo performance. Either a published or original script may be used for the Group Dramatisation. Simple props and costumes may only be used in the Solo Dramatisation, Group Dramatisation and Choral Verse Sections. Please ensure that material chosen complies with the specifications.
