1 ARTSYS.GVL registration form for stage productions (TV broadcast music) Dear Madam or Sir, We are sending you our ARTSYS.GVL registration form for your contributions to stage productions (TV broadcast - music) attached to this letter. Stage productions include concerts, ballets, operas, theatre and comedy productions. This registration form provides you with the possibility to register your contribution to TV broadcasts which were aired as a complete work, but not for productions where you only contributed to parts of the entire broadcast (e.g. individual contributions to shows and entertainment programmes or fictional scenes in documentaries). Contributions that need to be registered are stage productions (ballet, concerts, opera) which are legally protected according to our understanding. Please consult the next few pages with our notes on how to complete the ARTSYS.GVL registration form for further information on how to register your contributions. By sending in your completed registration form, you participate in our usage-based distribution system. We will incorporate the information you provided into our ARTSYS.GVL database, where it will be stored permanently and visible to other artists. Important: Contributions you made as a permanent member of an ensemble registered with GVL (orchestra or choir) are registered by the ensemble's representative of said orchestra or choir. This means that you don't need to enter such contributions on the registration form. Please note that processing your registered contributions may take some time as we enter your data manually into our system. We therefore recommend that you register your contributions via our internet portal for artists, ARTSYS.GVL ( if possible. Our portal offers you a significantly more comfortable way to register your contributions. 2 General notes on the ARTSYS.GVL registration form 1. For our usage-based distribution system, we need to establish the nature and intensity of your contribution. This kind of information was not captured via the old declaration form system ("Nachweisbogen", up to distribution 2009), in the course of which you received a lump-sum remuneration based on your income. What this means for you: Please enter all your stage productions into the ARTSYS.GVL registration form. In the case you performed on more than 10 productions, please copy the form and enter any additional stage productions into the copies, giving them consecutive page numbers. Please complete the form in as much detail as possible and refer to the pages "notes on how to register contributions to stage productions (TV broadcast - music)". Please do not enter any radio productions, radio plays or sound recording productions. GVL can provide you with a separate registration form for those productions, if required. Please sign each of your completed sheets, as GVL cannot accept and will return any unsigned registration form hard copies. 2. We will also cross-check your entries against information available to the public. If our research and the evidence provided by you does not produce clear results, we will contact you to request additional supporting documentation, including: the contract and/or agreement (excerpts) showing information on productions, production times/periods and the nature of your contribution. the professional fees' statement from which information on the production and nature of your contribution can be deduced. an artist acknowledgement or a confirmation of your contribution signed by the artistic producer (this can also be summarised in tabular form). an invoice issued by yourself together with the receipt of payment. Please also enter contributions that you have already registered by means of the GVL declaration form, as the declaration form documentation often does not allow for the nature of the contribution to be deduced. Unfortunately, we cannot consider registrations without supporting documentation for processing purposes; we also cannot accept self-prepared receipts. 3. Once we successfully entered your registrations based on our research and your supporting documentation, you will receive remuneration for your contributions to productions that were broadcast after 01 January 2010 on one of the channels analysed by GVL. GVL will send you a detailed statement for said remuneration. Broadcast contents This is the name of the TV production used by the broadcaster for the transmission (please indicate the original/working title if this deviates from the broadcast title in the agreements) a. Artist who has a significant impact on the contents and/or other contributors b. Information on the broadcast contents 3 Year of recording The year in which the stage production was produced/recorded. 4 Information on the broadcast (channel, date, time) Details on where and when the production was broadcast (it is enough if you inform us of one broadcast, you don't need to tell us about repeats). 5 Role Which role did you perform on the production in question? (Please consider the definitions given below). 6 Function What was the function your role entailed when you contributed to the production in question? (Please consider the definitions given below). 7 Instrument/pitch Which instrument did you play/what pitch did you perform at during the production in question? 8 Group Which band/ensemble/orchestra/choir are you a member of for the purposes of the production in question? 9 Size The number of contributors of the respective orchestra/ensemble/choir/band. 10 Composer Which composer wrote the production? (Obligatory field for classical stage productions) 11 Pseudonym Please indicate the pseudonym you used for the production(s) in question (if applicable). Definitions of the types of contribution relevant for distribution Contribution details: Please enter your respective contribution into the table on the registration form into the column "role" and "function". Multiple entries are possible. Role Function Description Conductor - Studio conductor - Leader of a music ensemble such as a choir or an orchestra with the overall artistic responsibility who sets musical parameters such as tempi, dynamics and interpretation of the musical work. Leader of a group of instrumentalists or vocalists whose conducting activity relates only to a part or excerpt of the recording or only to a group of instruments or a part of the musicians. As opposed to a conductor who directs an entire work, the studio conductor only contributes to parts of the work. Instrumentalist emerging as a soloist while performing in music productions: e.g. in classical solo concerts, as a soloist in a big band unless included in the set instruments; as a soloist and featured artist in pop music productions. Instrumentalist Singer Band or ensemble member Studio musicians Orchestra participant Band or ensemble member Singer who is part of the core formation of a band/an ensemble which appears under its own band name for the purposes of the registered production. This does, however, not include: soloist Studio (session) musician or line-up musician (not part of the core formation). An artist participating in an orchestra (orchestra member or replacement in an orchestra) or in a band consisting of a minimum of 10 contributing instrumentalists. Singer emerging as a soloist while performing in music productions: e.g. in classical solo concerts, as singer of a big band, soloist and featured artist in pop music productions. Singer who is part of the core formation of a band / an ensemble which appears under its own band name for the purposes of the registered production. Background or studio singer performing on studio and live productions (not being a part of the core formation). Dancer emerging as a soloist in a choreographic performance in stage productions or music videos. Dancer emerging as a part of a dance ensemble in a choreographic performance in stage productions or music videos. Performer in musicals Choir singer Actor set apart by his performance in stage productions which were broadcast on TV as theatre performance recordings or musical works in films (sound tracks). Ensemble member in stage productions which were broadcast on TV as theatre performance recordings or musical works in films (sound tracks). Stage director - Artistic director of stage productions (concert, musical, opera etc.) who gives artistic instructions to the contributing performers. 1) s: Recordings are usually only produced in their own name or under their pseudonym. Examples are: Howard Carpendale or Roger Cicero. It is also possible that several soloists contribute to one recording. Perlman and Barenboim perform Mozart (2x instrumental soloists) or Olli Dittrich feat.
