2 Additional Notes: Bachelor of Music in Performance Voice It is imperative that students be knowledgeable of curriculum and University requirements. Although faculty and full-time advisors are available for academic advisement, students must assume personal responsibility for academic progress and completion of program. Applied Music Students must perform a jury examination at the conclusion of each two-semester sequence of applied music. Applied lessons are required each term until degree requirements are completed. Completion by jury of MVV 4441 series required. MVK 11B proficiency required prior to Senior year. Ensembles University Singers, Choral Union, Chamber Choir, Opera Chorus, or Men s/women s Glee is required each term (except summer). A maximum of hours in Opera Chorus may be applied to the required 7 hours. Credit in University Chorale and/or Jazz Vocal Ensemble is not applicable. A variety of credit is encouraged. A minimum of ensembles must be 4000 level. Recital Attendance Transfers should consult an advisor concerning requirements for student recital attendance (MUS1010). Foreign Language Foreign Languages cannot be taken S/U. Consult advisor concerning sequencing of language courses. Course Prerequisites MUT 111 is prerequisite to MUL 110. MUL 110 and MUH 51 are prerequisites to MUH 11. MUH 11 is prerequisite to MUH 1. MUT 117 and MUT 47 are prerequisites for all advanced theory courses. Course Offerings MVV 4641 is offered only in the Spring Term of a given year. MUE 491 and MUE 495, which are taken concurrently, are offered only in Fall Terms. Multicultural Requirement One X (cross cultural) course and one Y (diversity) course are required. MUH 51 (required for music majors) is an X course. Students should consider selecting an E-Series course that is also a Y course. Scholarship in Practice Two Scholarship in Practice courses (with different prefixes) are required. MUT 116 (Music Theory III), Internships, Study Abroad, many E-Series courses, Applied Music Lessons plus a Recital in the same semester, and courses taken in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity
