1 The Remix Awards announce 2017 nominees By Austin Feb Remixes have always played an integral role in dance music culture, but in the age of the Internet and copyright disputes, it has sometimes been difficult for high-quality unofficial remixes to receive the recognition they deserve. Last year, Hollywood Hamilton and his radio show, The Remix Top 30, hosted a first-of-its-kind award ceremony, The Remix Awards. This year, Hamilton will return to Miami to host the second annual event at the W Hotel, co-produced by Digital Music Pool, one of the industry s leading remix distributors, on March during MMW to crown the best remix of the year along with other awards. For the main category of Remix of The Year, the nominees are split into two subsets: Radio Airplay and Production. Seeb s radio-crushing flip of I Took A Pill In Ibiza leads the Radio Airplay category against Internet favorites like Kue s Love Yourself remix and Actabhn s creative rendition of Kiiara s Gold. For Remix of the Year Production, newcomer Kue surprisingly earns two nominations for his remixes of Alessia Cara and DNCE. Beyond the two main awards, other categories include Remix Producer of the Year, Best Bootleg, Best Extended Edit, and more. View the full list of nominees below: 1/11
