This compact virtual instrument packs a big sound and powerful performance features, while offering just a small taste of the world-class professional choral content and power you can find in the Olympus Symphonic Choral Collection. Our goal with Olympus micro was to design a functional intro to help people explore the enormous possibilities that the full version of Olympus offers. However, it also serves equally well as a simple, great-sounding, easy-to-use choral pad instrument for those who just need the pure basics, without sacrificing quality. To illustrate some of the core features available in Olympus, we ve selected a pair of standard vowel sustains - a fortissimo Ah and pianissimo Oo - sung by the full ensemble over the full choir interval. We also include a pair of related Poly-sustains. This unique type of sustaining lyrical articulation is sung at a root tempo (100 and 140 bpm in this case), with the first syllables song to a natural rhythm before proceeding to a pure sustaining vowel. The final syllable is played as a release sample when the note is released. The choir sings throughout the poly-sustain in unison on a single pitch. We then record at whole step intervals over the entire interval range of the choir. We ve include the classic Latin liturgical word "Dominum", meaning "Lord" and the Slavonic (Russian liturgical) word Raduisya, meaning Mother Of God. The Refill Edition of Olympus Micro also includes true recorded staccatos for both Ah and Oo vowels. In adapting Olympus Micro to Reason s ReFill format, we created a core selection of 10 Combinator patches. Each Combinator features divisi men s and women s sections with articulation switching and adjustable note attack, release, pad mode, panning and independent gender volume controls. You ll also find a selection of 12 special FX Combinator presets that use many of Reason s built-in effects to create a variety of soundscapes and ambient pads. Whether you've been curious about our multi-sample instrument libraries and are still on the fence, you're just now learning about us, or you're just looking for a few great new sounds to play around with, Olympus Micro Refill is the perfect low cost and easy way to begin your journey. 1

3 ABOUT THIS LIBRARY More About Olympus... We captured the Olympus Symphonic Choir by assembling 63 hand-picked choral singers from the San Francisco Choral Society, Volti and the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, under the direction of maestro Robert Geary. We recorded in a huge acoustically optimal sanctuary hall hidden in the forested canyons of historic Montclair, CA. We recorded with Sound Devices hard disk multi-track recorders and 12 large-diaphragm Neumann microphones in a proprietary wide multi-position array to capture uncompromising fidelity and tone. We meticulously sampled over 90 solid hours of male ( Mars ) and female ( Venus ) divisi ensembles and solo SATB articulations, combining traditional deep sampling methods with our own specialized techniques and intuition to deliver the most capable and comprehensive symphonic choral library available anywhere in the world. Olympus Micro just focuses on a few of the vowels, staccatos and phrases recorded with the main close microphone position for the full chorus, with men and women in separate divisi sections. System Requirements Please be aware that many instrument and multiinstrument programs in this library are extremely ram/cpu and hard disk-streaming resource intensive. We highly recommend that you have at least 2GB of system ram, a quad-core cpu and a 7200 rpm SATA hard disk or better before purchasing this particular Soundiron library. Large sample sets like those found in this library may load slowly and may cause system instability on older machines. Preset Loading Once installation is complete, you can just double-click on the ReFill file to open up Reason, choose which patch you want to load and start using the library. Fidelity Upgrade Path... This library was recorded in wide stereo, in a lush natural hall environment, so you ll hear room coloration and tone as well as a few background impurities in some samples. We feel these subtle natural imperfections add life and character to the sound. Therefore, please keep in mind that this library isn t designed to provide perfectly quiet or sterile samples. Format Accessibility All of the sample content is included as standard nonencrypted PCM wav files, NN-XT and Combinator patches to allow you easy access to manipulate, reprogram and customize the sounds however you prefer. We know that it s important for many users to be able to go beyond the limitations of any one sampler or preset structure, so we ve kept this library s directories and files open for advanced users. As a professional, you may have your own workflow or format requirements, and we trust that you'll respect our hard work and won't share this content with anyone who hasn't paid for it. Keep in mind that to use any of these patches, Propellorhead Reason 6.5 or greater is required. The sample content, Combinator and NN-XT patches packed into Propellorhead s proprietary ReFill format. But we also include the sample content as unencrypted PCM wave files so users can utilize them in other sampler formats. 4 Combinator Controls Olympus Micro Refill contains 2 standard Combinator types: normal and Stereo Control. Each of these types is included for every articulation: Ah vowel, Oo vowel and Polysustains. The Ah and Oo vowels articulations further include a Staccato Combinator type. This is simply a saved of version of the standard preset with the Staccato articulations selected. Swell (Modwheel) The modwheel adjusts the dynamic of the vowel from a soft pianissimo to a sharp forte. Dry/Wet This knob controls the level of the reverb effect from dry (as recorded) to fully wet. Shape This knob shapes the ADSR of each note by attenuating the note attack and release time. At full value this produces a pad-like effect. Men Vol. This knob controls the volume of the male choral section only. Women Vol. This knob controls the volume of the female choral section only. Wide This button toggles stereo image enhancement on and off. Rel. On/Off This button toggle the playback of release samples on and off. Sus/Stac Buttons These buttons switch the articulation for each gender section between sustaining vowel (off) and staccato (on). Pan Men This knob controls the stereo panning of the men s section only.. Pad Mode This button enables a pad-like mode which softens both attack and release to create choral pads. Pan Women This knob controls the stereo panning of the women s section only. Chant 1/2 Men Button This button switches between the Slavonic polysustain Raduisya (off) and the Latin Dominum (on) for the men. Chant 1/2 Women Button This button switches between the Slavonic polysustain Raduisya (off) and the Latin Dominum (on) for the women. 4

No unlicensed use is permitted. All sounds, samples, programming, images, scripting, designs and text contained in this product are copyrights of Soundiron, llc. This software is licensed, but not sold, to you by Soundiron, for commercial and non-commercial use in music, sound-effect creation, audio/video postproduction, performance, broadcast or similar finished content-creation and production use. Individual license holders are permitted to install this library on multiple computers or other equipment only if they are the sole owner and only user of all equipment this software is installed or used on. Soundiron allows you to use any of the sounds and samples in the library(s) you've purchased for the creation and production of commercial recordings, music, sound design, post production, or other content creation without paying any additional license fees or providing source attribution to Soundiron. This license expressly forbids any unauthorized inclusion of any raw or unmixed content contained within this product into any other commercial or non-commercial sample instrument, sound effect library, synthesizer sound bank, or loop or effect library of any kind, without our express prior written consent. REFUNDS Unlocked sample libraries can't be returned, refunded or exchanged. Please be aware that as soon as you've downloaded it, this product can not be returned. RESPONSIBILITY Use of this product and any supplied or associated software or data is at the licensee s own risk. Soundiron is free of all liability and user accepts all liability and responsibility for any direct or indirect loss or damage arising from the purchase, installation or any use of this product. TERMS This license agreement is effective from the moment the product is purchased or acquired by any means. The license will remain in full effect until termination by Soundiron, llc. The license is terminated if you break any of the terms or conditions of this agreement, or request a refund for any reason. Upon termination you agree to destroy all copies and contents of the product at your own expense. All past and future versions of this product, including those released through brands other than Soundiron, are covered under the terms of this agreement.
