While we are only able to individually acknowledge major sponsors of the Eisteddfod, we sincerely thank all those businesses and individuals who have donated their time, goods and money to assist in making the Eisteddfod the ongoing success that it has been for 31 years. This is why Quota Beenleigh runs this Eisteddfod Dance, music, drama and theatre offer an outlet for creative expression and the chance to learn a host of skills in the process. Albert & Logan News Thursday January 28, 2016 Arts Education Chair Professor Judith McLean said research by John Hopkins University in the US had shown the benefits of the performing arts for children. Students undertaking regular music training were found to have changes in their brain structures helping them to transfer highly advanced motor skills to other areas of their life. She said This research also found children who were attracted to a specific art form and practised, increased the efficiency of their attention as a whole. They became able to be better focused and stick to tasks across maths, english, all the key subject areas. In fact, it improved their IQ skills. There s a huge body of evidence which says that children who are inducted into the arts have a better understanding of themselves and the world in which they live. Page 12
